    The thing is, & are former Moscow correspondents with deep experience covering Washington and presidential scandal. They co-wrote a book on Putin and Peter wrote THE book on Clinton’s impeachment trial. No two journalists are better equipped for this moment.

    Just saw than Les Gelb died. I got to know him decades ago when he was at the NYTimes, and better when he headed and after he retired. A prince of a man. And a true leader. May his memory be for a blessing.

    Putting aside the relative merits of this statement, I don’t think it helps for a US ambassador in one NATO country to publicly lobby to take the US troops based in another NATO country.
