Thanks are owed to many people - but especially to my doctoral supervisors and David Stevenson; my PhD examiners and Mark Connelly; and my readers (who were constructive and very affirming). Coming to a bookshop far away from you in 2023 (or thereabouts)!

I had fun talking to for this. It picks up on a number of the themes that will be in my book (more on that to follow shortly). It was recorded a couple of days after my thirtieth birthday festivities ended so I am happy that I don't sound as bad as I still felt!

Thank you for nominating me as highly commended in the / 2020-21 teaching awards. I loved moonlighting on a history course again and it was a pleasure to teach such promising young historians. The prize will fund a trip to a sunny pub garden!

Unfortunately, I turn 30 today but I did receive this thoughtful gift from two friends - an original French sketched trench map. My best guess: part of the line near Pinon/Allemant ahead of the Battle of La Malmaison (23-27 Oct. 1917). Do any have more ideas?

Very grateful to have been nominated by one (or more) of my students for a 2021 student led teaching award. I am glad they seem to have enjoyed my teaching as much as I enjoyed teaching them. What a nice way to wrap up my time teaching !
