The first new daytime drama to come down the pike since Passions in 1999 — and the first Black-centric soap to debut since Generations a decade earlier — CBS' Beyond the Gates is set to follow the trials and tribulations of a wealthy African-American family that resides in a posh, gated community. The show was developed by the network and the NAACP with an assist from Procter & Gamble (which once upon a time brought us Guiding Light, As the World Turns, Another World and more). The estimable Michele Val Jean, revered for her work at General Hospital and Bold & Beautiful, is on board as showrunner and headwriter. Start date: February 24, 2025.
