“…Our study results revealed different circadian melatonin patterns between patients in both groups, attributable to distinct photometric parameters of the DLS and the FT-CL. These findings contrast previous results from a randomized controlled trial (RCT), which showed no effect of bright-light therapy on ICU delirium ( 43 ). In this RCT, the DLS emitted up to 800 lux from a relatively small area, possibly increasing glare-related effects and potentially contributing to the onset of delirium.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…These excluded patients had significantly higher mortality (data not shown), and if included, total mortality would have been 19%. Our results are comparable to those of the annual Danish intensive care report and also to the Dutch light trial presenting a mortality of 12–14% …”

“…Our results regarding light therapy are comparable to a recent randomized Dutch trial that examined the effect of dynamic light exposure in an ICU setting. The trial included 743 patients and found an insignificant 3% reduction in incidence of delirium with circadian light.…”

“…A study from 2013 found that 65% of patients had CAM‐ICU‐positive delirium at three Danish ICUs. The Dutch dynamic light study found a delirium incidence of 35% . The population in these studies differs from ours with regard to age, disease severity, and inclusion and exclusion criteria.…”
