Radio broadcasting transmits audio signals via radio waves to receivers over a wide area. Listeners need a radio receiver for "terrestrial" broadcasts (AM, FM, DAB) from land transmitters, while satellite radio signals come from satellites in orbit.

Radio stations create their own programming or partner with radio networks for content via syndication or simulcasting. Common transmission technologies include analog (AM and FM) and digital (DAB, HD Radio, DRM).
