Could use your AI/LLM "spidey sense"

[change source]

Could you take a look at Special:Contributions/Pinkish_Flowers and see if you're getting an AI/LLM generated vibe out of them, too? I nominated Rus'–Samanid conflicts (910–911) at RFD as it just feels "off" and has potentially hallucinated sources. The other couple of articles seem to have similar concerns. You've got a good eye/sense for picking up on them so would appreciate your additional view. CountryANDWestern (talk) 15:10, 25 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

CountryANDWestern, these are interesting, the references do seem dodgy but I am not getting as much of a usual AI-generated feel from a lot of it. There are some grammar mistakes which AI doesn't tend to make: According to Al-Mas'udi, the Sea of Azov belongs to the Rus, and that no one else sails on its waters but them and the Rus' had good relationship with the Khazar rulers. I checked ZeroGPT and nothing is coming back from that (though that has mixed reliability). It still could be, it doesn't have a lot of the telltale signs but there is definitely something off, I'm just not too sure at the moment. --Ferien (talk | join TBA!) 22:39, 25 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Good points about the grammar. I didn't catch those sentences/phrases. I'll leave the RFD open for now, but perhaps it isn't AI generated as I was thinking. CountryANDWestern (talk) 13:16, 26 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Dark mode conformation of FerienBot userpages

[change source]

Hello, I want to report that none of the three FerienBot userpages conform to dark mode, except for the infobox. Michael21107 (talk) 10:56, 28 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi Michael21107, thank you for the notification. This will be because of the templates involved, so other bot userpages are also broken. There have not been a load of adjustments for dark mode here yet, as you have likely spotted. I will take a look at adjusting a lot of our templates to fit when I can. --Ferien (talk | join TBA!) 13:45, 6 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I have no clue how I did not realize that they are templates, or that most things on this (and hard English) wiki are made of templates, especially user/bot pages. Great seeing someone take initiative though! Michael21107 (talk) 15:35, 6 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Michael21107, FerienBot and friends are now compatible. I'll take a look at the ones you posted on the talk page of. As much as I hate Vector 2022, I've put myself into dark mode to try and spot more of these :) --Ferien (talk | join TBA!) 22:25, 6 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

The Treaty of the Danish West Indies (Danish: Vestindiens traktat), officially the Convention between the United States and Denmark for cession of the Danish West Indies (Danish: Konventionen mellem USA og Danmark), was a 1916 treaty transferring sovereignty of the Danish West Indies from Denmark to the United States in exchange for a sum of US$25,000,000 in gold ($722 million in 2024) and a declaration from the United States that it would "not object to the Danish Government extending their political and economic interests to the whole of Greenland". It is one of the most recent permanent expansions of United States territory.

Restoration of article to user space

[change source]

Hi,

Could you restore the latest version of the Harry Potter TV series page you deleted to my userspace so I could keep working on improving it? Could you also clarify if possible which parts of it you still see as particularly complex? I know I had made some changes in response to earlier feedback to use more active voice and simplify sentences, I think. Newsjunkie (talk) 19:33, 8 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Newsjunkie, please find the new page in replacement of the old page in your userspace, at User:Newsjunkie/Harry Potter (TV series). The main issue I see is that it is very similar to the English Wikipedia article as it stands, so I would advise you bring in "translations" section-by-section as opposed to copying the page and just adjusting it, as the way you are currently doing it would prove much more difficult, but nevertheless I will try and give some more precise feedback.
  • There unfortunately still are a lot of complex sentences, Led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, in September 2024, a casting call was released looking for child actors to play Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. is a good example of a really complex one. This could even just be simplified to something like In September 2024, the casting directors, Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, started looking for child actors to play Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. would already be much better but even then you could cut it down further, say if you had already explained who the casting directors were in another sentence.
  • Not so much a complex sentence as such but it can just be stated much easier, it is written that Holly Waddington serves as the costume designer, just say she is the costume designer.
  • Lots of passive still unfortunately. On 18 August, filming took place at Borough High Street, in Southwark, London, with McLaughlin and Frost present., By November, production took place in Ashridge with numerous cast members, On 24 and 25 August, filming occurred at King's Cross station with the actors playing the Weasley family., In mid-September, filming took place in Hoddesdon with Daniel Rigby present,.
I don't want to give loads of little things because I feel like doing it this way is naturally just way more difficult. I would personally recommend focusing on a section at the time, and there is no obligation for the page to be "finished" upon completion. A shorter more simple article is prefered to a longer less simplified article. I hope this is helpful. --Ferien (talk | join TBA!) 23:24, 10 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, I will take another look! Just in terms of the last paragraph you mentioned though, I think all those sentence are actually active sentences, with filming and production acting as a noun in each sentence? Passive would be something like scenes were filmed or production was witnessed maybe, but in this case "Filming" or "Production" are the active nouns with the active verb forms being took place and occurring, there is no form of "to be" that would normally be used in passive. Steens Mountain is a large fault-block mountain in the northwest United States, located in Harney County, Oregon. Stretching some fifty miles (80 km) north to south, on its east side it rises from the Alvord Desert at an elevation of about 4,200 feet (1,280 m) to 9,738 feet (2,968 m) at the summit. Steens Mountain is not part of a mountain range but is properly a single mountain, the largest of Oregon's fault-block mountains.

A casque is an anatomical feature found in some species of birds, reptiles, and amphibians. In birds, it is an enlargement of the bones of the upper mandible or the skull, either on the front of the face, the top of the head, or both. The casque has been hypothesized to serve as a visual cue to a bird's sex, state of maturity, or social status; as reinforcement to the beak's structure; or as a resonance chamber, enhancing calls.

Etruscan sculpture was one of the most important artistic expressions of the Etruscan people, who inhabited the regions of Northern Italy and Central Italy between about the 9th century BC and the 1st century BC. Etruscan art was largely a derivation of Greek art, although developed with many characteristics of its own. Given the almost total lack of Etruscan written documents, a problem compounded by the paucity of information on their language—still largely undeciphered—it is in their art that the keys to the reconstruction of their history are to be found, although Greek and Roman chronicles are also of great help. Like its culture in general, Etruscan sculpture has many obscure aspects for scholars, being the subject of controversy and forcing them to propose their interpretations always tentatively, but the consensus is that it was part of the most important and original legacy of Italian art and even contributed significantly to the initial formation of the artistic traditions of ancient Rome.

Pulse was a gay bar, dance club, and nightclub in Orlando, Florida, founded in 2004 by Barbara Poma and Ron Legler. On June 12, 2016, the club was the scene of the second-deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman in U.S. history, and the second-deadliest terrorist attack on U.S. soil since the September 11 attacks. Forty-nine people were killed and 58 other people were injured.

Tofana di Rozes (3,225 metres (10,581 ft)) is a mountain of the Dolomites in the Province of Belluno, Veneto, Italy. Located west of the resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo, the mountain's giant three-edged pyramid shape and its vertical south face, above the Falzarego Pass, makes it the most popular peak in the Tofane group, and one of the most popular in the Dolomites.

how to become administrator 🙈 Actor1nLaw (talk) 20:37, 6 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Actor1nLaw: It takes some time but the main thing to keep in mind is that people aren't (or shouldn't be) contributing to become an admin. Eventually, it just becomes a natural extension of what you're doing already as an editor. You need to be trusted by the community and have experience to show you won't mess anything up too much. --Ferien (talk | join TBA!) 20:40, 6 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
