Logging In to American Scientist Online

American Scientist individual subscribers and members of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society, have full access to American Scientist Online, including the searchable archive.

To log in, enter your member or individual subscriber number in the Username field in the left panel:

• Members of Sigma Xi: Your member number is the 9- or 11-digit number above your name on the American Scientist mailing label. Please disregard the "B" that precedes the number on back issues. [sample]
   
• Individual subscribers: See your mailing label. Your subscriber number begins with an "S" followed by a 9- or 10-digit number. Please disregard the "B" that precedes the number on back issues. [sample]

Your password is your last name.

You can change your username and password at any time.  To specify a new username and password, complete the following fields.

Inactive Sigma Xi members can get instant access to the full site by reactivating their membership by clicking here.

Non-members can get access by subscribing now to the magazine by clicking here.

Visitors who would like access to a particular archive article can order a back issue of the magazine by clicking here.

Note: The Sigma Xi membership year extends from July 1 to June 30. If dues are unpaid on July 1, a member will be allowed access to American Scientist Online for a one-month "grace period." If access is denied after this grace period, it can be restored immediately upon payment of dues by clicking here.
