August 7, 2006 - IGN is looking for a talented Video Producer for our Los Angeles-based office. This position requires a variety of video production skills and experience with the latest technologies. Other crucial skills include great communication abilities, organizational savvy, as well as a love of movies, games and all things entertainment.

The Video Producer is responsible for the production and editing of original video content for IGN Entertainment. This position will develop, shoot, edit, and compress programming for delivery. Largely, it will focus on the movie, TV, and consumer electronics industry.

The position will be based at our Culver City offices. We are looking to fill the position immediately and will be interviewing at our offices over the next few weeks. Specific duties are as follows:

Editing

  • Editing on a PC-based Avid Xpress Pro (or comparable) system
  • Strong sense of pace and style
  • Prefer some experience with advanced techniques including custom effects (transitions, etc.), titling, chroma keying, or similar

Production

  • Knowledge of studio- and ENG-style lighting, shooting, and audio recording
  • Work closely with staff writers to produce interviews and site visits
  • Acquire and capture assets from videogames, tape and disc media, or other (monitors, TV screens)
  • Develop segment ideas, fine-tune storyboards and scripts
  • Compress final video productions for publish on the Internet; knowledge of programs such as Sorenson Squeeze, Media Cleaner, or other helpful
  • Experience with high-definition production a plus

Qualifications

  • Strong portfolio of work that shows experience in aforementioned
  • Experience working major media events such as E3 a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communications
  • Adapts quickly, accurately under direction of others
  • Ability to work autonomously towards agreed upon goals
  • Self-motivated, creative, and driven to learn new skills that apply to refining the role
  • Knowledge of related programs including Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, Final Cut, or similar a plus

  • Must work out of IGN's Culver City, CA offices (located closely to Los Angeles)
  • Flexible work hours; ability to attend occasional late-night events and meetings
  • Ability to travel locally, continentally and internationally
