Positron Interview Notes and Download Print News | Mail News Positron was recently interviewed on w00t radio and dished out plates of goodness on the future of CoX. Among the juicy details he told, some of the more interesting were that the planned retail box expansion will now be free expansions, there will be another double XP weekend before the end of the year and there will be another halloween event coming. There really is a huge amount of info regarding the future of the game and what it has in store for players and is definitely worth checking out. CuppaJo Interview Highlights[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News In a recent radio interview with Split Infinity, CoH Community manager, Cuppajo had a few things to say about the upcoming expansion pack and Issue 8. A few of the tidbits are that there will be no Warshades or Nictus for villains once they hit 50, the character transfer service should be up in the near future and there will be much more for lvl 50's to do. Patch Notes - 08/01/06[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News As you load up City of Heroes/Villians today, you will find yourself updating with a spiffy new patch. The new patch addresses many issues for both heroes and villains including a fix for getting stuck in the Pocket D elevators, several costume fixes, map fixes and more! The most interesting feature of the patch seems to be that the global chat has been disabled for now and the near future until the problems it was having are resolved. WoR Radio Awards Winners[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News The WoR Radio awards have come come to a close and the winners have been announced. Not so suprisingly enough, City of Heroes cleaned up pretty good winning 7 of the 18 categories. Here's a run down of what CoH picked up:

Fan Fiction - The Trial[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News Tiger-Guy is at it again with his latest addition to our fan fiction section. For those of you you that dig the fan fiction stories written about heroes of Paragon City, then you'll love this. His latest story follows a gang of heroes as they make their way through the Cavern of Transcendence trial. Grab your self a coke and a sammich and pull up a chair! Archon Voss Interview[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News The good folks over at Warcry.com had a chance to fire off some questions to Archon Voss aka Thomas Foss, the Zone Director for Cryptic Studios about some level designs and upcoming content. The interview will have some scratching their chins in interest, especially when some content in I8 and I9 is talked about. Do you think that this event has brought to light some changes that need to be made to the rate Xp is gained or not? The previous poll is now closed in which you were asked your thoughts on the Patron Powers being permanent that were introduced in I7. The results were pretty even with only a few votes deciding that it was a good idea the way it is.
The Week Ahead[ 7 Comments ] Print News | Mail News After a wonderful weekend of formatting my computer and trying to get CoH installed and running properly to take advantage of the Double XP weekend, all did not go so well, but I did finally manage to get my main up to 41 at least. For the week ahead here at the CoH Vault, keep an eye out for more updates to the site, as well as additional Task Force write ups and even some Fan Fiction for those that dig the hero stories.
So for those of you that took part in the Xp Extravaganza this weekend, how did it go for you? Get those levels you were looking for or start up some alts for some really quick leveling?
Base Changes Coming Print News | Mail News Positron is in a posting mood lately over on the official forums. The latest post is about some changes that will be coming to creating Super Group Bases. Many people have complained that it costs too much (it does) and that it takes too long to get the base somewhat interesting and useful (also true). They have some ideas that are going to be implemented in the near future to help sort this out such as earning more prestige and giving more base options. You can read the full post over....here.

Hero Gear Kits Getting Restocked[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News For those of you that missed out on the Hero gear Kits over at the PlayNC Store, NC Soft has announced that they will be receiving a few more. Around the end of August, the Play NC Store will have a new shipment, but sadly, it will be the final supply. Once they are gone, they are gone for good. We'll let you know when they are available!
WoR-Radio Awards[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News Voting has opened for World Of Roleplayers First WoR Wing Awards and City of Heroes/Villains has been nominated for multiple categories. The categories CoX is up for prizes are "Best Retail MMO, Best Customer Support, Best Server Management, Best Mulitplayer Storyline, Best Content, & Best Character Customization." Think CoX will be able to pull some awards away from the power house known as World of Warcraft?

Double XP Weekend Coming[ 11 Comments ] Print News | Mail News A heads up to the City of Heroes and City of Villains players out there, that apparently there will be a "Double XP Weekend" coming up soon. Word is that from 11AM CST on Friday, July 21 until 9PM CST Sunday, July 23, all XP acquired will garner you double the usual XP. Sounds pretty nifty doesn't it? For those of you like myself that have been stuck at a level for a long period of time, the weekend "will give players the opportunity to level up their characters and gain access to many of the new features available in both City of Heroes and City of Villains".
Global Chat Update Print News | Mail News Cricket made a post on the official CoH forums about the global chat issues that have been a problem for quite sometime. The announcement states that they are still unable to figure out what the problem is and that there is no fix for it as of yet. Once there is a fix for it, the system will be backed up every 20 minutes to make sure the problem doesn't arise again. You can read the full post about it here.
Born in Battle Accolade Req. Lowered[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News Many people had been complaining about needing to get the "Nigh Indestructible" for the Born in Battle accolade due to it's incredibly high requirements. Positron made a post on the official forums to let everyone know that the requirements for the accolade have been lowered and will be changed in the future. Here's the post.
"I've lowered the requirements for this from needing the "Nigh Indestructible" badge (100,000,000 damage taken) to "Unbreakable" (10,000,000 damage taken).
This is in a future patch (not on the Training Room yet). I don't know when it will be promoted to TR or to the live servers, but it is in the pipeline."
