More iD Games Coming to XBLA? 9:19 PST | cyric | Print News | Mail News With the recent success of DOOM on Xbox Live arcade, it would make sense that id and Microsoft would look to releasing more classic id games. The Firing Squad had a chance to ask Todd Hollenshead of id Software about it and here's what he had to say:
"We're looking at bringing some of the other games to XLA, but a lot is going to depend on the response to DOOM. From what MS tells us, its [sic] been fantastic so far, which bodes well for other id "classics" to be released there. But there's nothing concrete," he said. "Making the surprise announcement at X06 for DOOM worked out great, so I'll be tight lipped about anything specific for now :)"
Well given that DOOM is number 1 on XBox Live Arcade, I'm thinking we will be seeing more id titles soon enough.

1Up DOOM XBLA Review 7:48 PST | cyric | Print News | Mail News The fellers over at 1Up.com have put their thoughts of the recently released DOOM for Xbox Live Arcade down on paper and don't seem to impressed with it. What didn't they like about it? Well the fact that they found it laggy during the multiplayer was enough to demolish any decent rating for the game even though they cited it as "not a terrible port of the game. As a matter of fact, the single-player game is excellent." Excellent enough for the big 5 out of 10 they rated it. You can read the full review here.
1 Call of Duty 2
2 Saints Row
3 Madden NFL 07
4 Ghost Recon 3
5 Test Drive Unlimited
6 DOOM
7 Dead Rising
8 Oblivion
9 BFMC
10 Sonic The Hedgehog Demo
Pulling it at #6 over all and in first place for Arcade Live games! Not too damn shabby for a game that is over 10 years old. If you haven't picked it up on Xbox Live Arcade yet, what are you waiting for??

ZDOOM 2.1.6 Released 8:13 PST | cyric | Print News | Mail News For all you old school DOOMers out there, there is a new version of ZDOOM available. This latest release fixes plenty of things and well as adds more than a few changes. This brings the current version up to 2.1.6. Here's a quick list of changes:
Scaled 2D images are supported
Dehacked max health usage defaults to consistancy with other (BOOM) ports.
A font parameter was added to A_Print.
Quoted strings in DECORATE can no longer span multiple lines without using the escape character (\) at the end of each line.
