It is time now for another news release of Battlegroup42. Even though we were pretty quiet in the last weeks, that doesnt mean we have been lazy. Soon we will publish our newest BG42 Patch - the last one before our upcoming full release Battlegroup42 Version 1.4!
Most of the work on patch 1.33 is invisible. We have focused on bug fixing and made great progress. We have to admit, that even with 1.33 some maps can't be played online (e.g. Paderborn and Volkssturm). Some of our most awaited but yet unplayable maps are now working online: Volturno Crossing, Final at Bizerte and Mont. St. Michel. We have also repaired one of the all time community favourites, Kharkov Winter. Read the Rest...
FiringSquad: What would you say was the most surprising thing that was discovered in the beta testing for the game?
Marcus Nilsson: In our closed betas our teams can identify many of the glitches and tweaks that need to be made regarding the gameplay. Theres a huge advantage to having a large scale stress test such as the one we just had. One of the things we discovered during the Beta was that the enemy under certain circumstances could penetrate the shields of the opposing teams Titan and get to the core while the shields were still up. This exploit was of course changed for the final game. Read the Rest...
IGA CEO Gamespot Q&A; 13:21 PST | ^Scott^ | Print News | Mail News Another Q&A; with IGA CEO, Justin Townsend has surfaced and answers some more questions about the BF2142 in-game advertisements. Interview done by Gamespot.
GS: It's been reported that the IGA technology monitors surfing habits and other computing habits. Is that true?
JT: Completely untrue. In advertising, it's important to understand that there are two key forms of advertising. One of them is called above-the-line advertising. In mediums such as television or radio or print, what you're looking to do is communicate the brand values to the consumer in the hope that the next time they go shopping and make a purchasing decision, they will think of your brand. BF2142 Mini-Gun Case Mod 19:40 PST | ^Scott^ | Print News | Mail News Over on bit-tech.net they have put up the step by step process to make this case mod for BF2142 that Oliver Konig put together. I have to say he did a very good job and it looks really good. Don't forget to check out the video here.
Having worked with EA to produce some mods to promote the previous version of Battlefield, I was keen to hook up with those guys again to do something around the new release of the game, 2142. EA asked me to put together mods of the same design, and today I'm presenting one of them to you. Read the Rest...
Still, there are some key differences. In Battlefield 2142, you customize your soldier with your accumulated unlocks, and you can adjust your equipment in the field to meet the changing circumstances. Knife kills are now rewarded with your victim's dog tag, giving you a little added incentive to use your knife. Maps load more quickly, and an "away bonus" helps infrequent players rank up and stay competitive. Field upgrades encourage squad-based teamwork, and overpowered aircrafts have been eliminated. "Spotted" enemies get a little red icon on them that can be seen through buildings, so you aren't forced to rely solely on your mini-map. Read the Rest...
"Day Zero" patches (or "Day One," take your pick) have become one of the ugliest practices in PC game development. It's one thing when a hundred thousand people buy your game and find bugs that might have slipped past your QA team; it's something else when developers and publishers routinely send games off to manufacturing and suddenly find more bugs before the game ships, adding the indignity of a patch download to the tedium of the typical PC game install. We would like to provide more information on in-game advertising in Battlefield 2142. To try and help everyone better understand it, here is how it works.
The in- game advertisement is respectful of players' privacy: it never accesses files not directly related to the game, and it does not capture personal data such as cookies, account login detail, gameplay behaviour or surfing history. As it is an integrated part of Battlefield 2142 and not a separate program, it only runs when the game is running. Read the Rest...
Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. Without using too many words we are going right for the update presenting two more vehicles ingame. First is the most common truck used by British forces: the Bedford 3 ton lorry. More than 70,000 3-ton Bedfords were produced between 1939 and 1945, in a variety of configurations and were used for all conceivable transport roles, including the movement of troops, horses, machine guns and supplies. Specifically, IGA's software uses the IP address for geotargeting of in-game ads (so that European ads are not shown to those in the U.S., for example). It also creates a unique user number that's generated locally, and is able to re-identify the gamer when he next appears online.
In addition, IGA's in-game ad solution does capture the time of day that the user started to play each gaming session - Townsend mentioned, as an example, that "if the brief says 'Males 18 to 34'", the ads may only be served between 6pm and 9pm on a weekday evening or similar, to replicate 'primetime' viewing. Reports of our death have been greatly exaggerated. Without further ado, we are pleased to present a superb model by Khalid and Streetveiter, skinned by the ever-talented BlackJack. BF1918 veterans will recognise it as the venerable Ehrhardt armoured car. Read the Rest...
Q: Did you just say we can't resell ranked 2142 servers?
Yes. EA is taking the ranked 2142 program very seriously, and only official ranked providers may sell ranked 2142 servers. You may not say on your website that you're selling ranked BF2142, nor that you're an official provider, nor resell bf2142 servers that you purchase from us. Read the Rest...
