Kinship Crier

Volume II, Issue XI

Good morning Middle Earth! Time to grab that cup of joe and sit down with the Kinship Crier!

LOTRO Vault News
The LOTRO Vault site is undergoing some new management and staffing changes! Loktofeit, the manager who saw the site from inception to this week, is stepping down to take on new adventures in the Vault and IGN network. Although we're sad to see him go, our new manager, Avalon, is no stranger to LOTRO or the lore behind the incredible world that J.R.R Tolkien has created for us to play in.

In addition to the manager change, Seridove will be stepping down from LOTRO Vault as the Kinship Liaison. Also seeing the site from inception, she's been responsible for handling the Kinship Crier and Kinship Watcher programs. Until a new kinship liaison is announced, feel free to pass along any news or questions to Avalon at avalon@vaultnetwork.com.

New Partners
The LOTRO Vault is proud to welcome the following kinships to the Kinship Watcher Program!

Eternal Templar
Middle Earth Center
Allied Coalition
Turtledowns
Amenta

Welcome aboard!!!

Now, if you've applied to our program and can't find your listing I may have an answer for you as to why! If you do not enter a valid email address, I cannot add you to the program. This email address is used to facilitate correspondence between myself and you! So, to make sure your kinship gets as much exposure on our site as possible please make sure you supply an email address.

If you're still thinking of applying and haven't, don't wait any longer. Take advantage of front page publicity, event coverage, and a kinship listing that is completely updatable by YOU! No more long lists of threads or having old information floating around out there! Sign up here now!

There's lots going on today, so I wanted to wrap it up in one email!

First, our servers came back up this morning with a patch to the game. Patch notes can be found here:
http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=106622

Second, we just announced a special Holiday offer: Players can choose a new pricing plan of $29.97 every three months which works out to $9.99 a month! This offer is available from now through January 31, 2008. For more details, please see:

Finally (at least for today), our Founders received a Holiday gift from Turbine: The Bree Horse, usable at level 25! Lifetime accounts will also be receiving the horse shortly.

Thanks for your support and have a wonderful Holiday season! :)

P.S. Actually, while I'm at it, we also rolled out Referral programs today for both Dungeons and Dragons Online: Stormreach (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=128978) and Asheron's Call (http://forums.ac.turbine.com/showthread.php?t=36669)! It's a busy day here at Turbine :)

Turbine talks about their expanding version of Middle-earth in an IGN interview.
With the release of Book 11 a few weeks ago, a free content expansion, those still wrapped up in this virtual Middle-earth are wondering what's next. We talked recently with Jeffrey Steefel, Executive Producer of Lord of the Rings Online, and Adam Marsky, Director of Communications at Turbine, about what's coming up, LOTRO's development since launch, and the nature of fitting an MMO into the rapidly shifting global market.

US and EU Dev Chat Logs  [ Comment ]
Print News | Category: Community
MMORPG.com has a log and sumamry article of their recent chat with the Turbies.

Links: Chat Log / Summary Article

[MMORPG]Taera: Koolaider asks, Hey Devs! I started playing LotRO in November when the Beta was still pretty young, started playing again around launch. As the months passed, I found my self at level 50 with not much to do! What will the team be bringing to the table for us that are looking for end game stuff to do?

[LOTRO]Annuvin: Well, it's funny you should... ah, screw it.
[LOTRO]Annuvin: Anyhow, there comes a time in all MMO's where the passionate subscriber finds that the game that they love doesn't have that 'sheen' it used to have. We pride ourself on the quality of our release, as LOTRO was a labor of love. With that said, you (subscriber) consume content at an amazing rate... and you don't all like the same things.
[LOTRO]Annuvin: We have added elements post launch (2 Raids, some high level instances) and we've unveiled more of our epic story and plot line. We've added housing, and now we're adding a whole cosmetic system for folks to have complete customization of your character.
[LOTRO]Annuvin: All I really want to say is; we will keep adding things. When/if we ever do an expansion, you can expect it will be largely aimed at our endgame.

The EU dev chat is up at LOTROLife: LOTRO Life Dev chat

Slattz: Is there any chance new time responsive or quest responsive events could happen? For instance, bands of Blackwolds attacking Bree, or Goblins attacking Gondamon, as part of the epic or a non-epic quest chain? Could be a great thing to get the whole community involved!

LOTRO_Patience Hi again Slattz! Yes, you'll see things like that in the game - though you won't know until they happen

New POI in the Lorebook:

"In the northern reaches of the Lake Evendim region, treasure-hunters following rumors of lost treasure established a town and trading post in the ruins of the old fortress of Ost Forod. Recently, a less savory element has entered the ranks of the Men of Ost Forod in the form of brigands and tomb-robbers."

*Pulp's News From Around the Web - Novermber 30th*  [ 1 Comment ]
Print News | Category: General
Here's the last news report for November and we have to make it quick cause this guy likes to Xmas shop early to beat the crowds (yeah right). Here's the lowdown:

I found this tidbit on Voodoo Extreme and subsequently on a few more sites - Lord of the Rings Online has been nominated for RPG of the year so if you enjoy it like i do, head on over and vote for it.

This week, we have the usual wealth of information from Ten Ton Hammer. They have a beastiary for the Dungeon of Morfil, a Captain Skills and Traits update, a guide on quests in Hobbiton, a stable guide and Part Deux to the Chicken Guide I posted a few weeks back.

Finally, we have a sneak preview to some champion love in book 12 courtesy of LotROLife.

I'm off to muscle some old ladies and develop some road rage from circling the parking lots of the local malls. Why don't I just do all my shopping on-line?
Have a good weekend all and see you in Middle Earth.
