start:
The goal is to provide tight (but optional) integration of the OpenOffice.org
to the KDE environment beginning with KDE look and feel and ending with KDE
data sources.
- 2006-03-30
- Éric Bischoff has implemented support for KDE system-wide
settings in OOo, see issue
63557.
- 2006-03-12
- OpenOffice.org
2.0.2 has been released. This version contains the KDE Address Book
Connector by Éric Bischoff, and Crystal icons from KDE, many newly
created by Nuno Pinheiro and Robert Wadley.
- 2005-08-25
- Éric Bischoff works on an implementation of KDE Address Book
Connector for OOo. The work is in progress, but it already looks really
well, see here.
- 2005-07-22
- Beginning with the m118 milestone, KDE vclplug with the Native Widget
Framework (NWF) is part of the official OpenOffice.org builds. You can
download it here.

Planet OpenOffice.org
The following features are already finished, the code is merged in
the main OOo CVS and the official
OOo builds contain them.
- KDE VCL plugin with KDE Native Widget Framework
VCL plugins are a framework that makes it possible for OOo to run natively
in a desktop of user's choice (more info).
Native Widget Framework lets the widgets render according to the style
chosen in the desktop (more info).
- KDE Address Book Connector
Database connector for KDE Address Book so that it could be used
transparently from OOo (more
info).
- Crystal icons for OOo
Crystal theme is the default in KDE (more
info).
There are still some icons that need new design, see the status
page. But the finished ones are integrated in the official builds.
These features are not ready for integration yet, but most of them are
available through ooo-build.
- KDE system-wide settings
Implement support
for KDE system-wide settings in OOo.
Status: Works, and is waiting for integration.
- KDE file dialog
Use the KDE file dialog in OpenOffice.org instead of the default one.
Status: Works well, the code is in ooo-build, but it is not ready for
integration yet.
- cuckooo
A KDE Part which allows OpenOffice.org to be run in a Konqueror
window (more info).
Status: Works for OOo 1.x, and Éric has updated it for 2.x (but it
blocks on i#64385).
- KIO support
- KDE print dialog
It all began in July 2003, when I read an article
about Ximian's work on improving
OpenOffice.org. The effort to do something similar to Bonobo OOo
integration project (probably dead now) resulted in cuckooo, a KDE
Part displaying OpenOffice.org in the Konqueror. Further continuation was the
base for the other subprojects.
Help is very appriciated. If you are interested, just mail me what would you like to do.
The project would not be in the present state without help of Michael Meeks
(vclplug), Philipp Lohmann (vclplug), Rob Wadley (icons), Nuno Pinheiro
(icons), Éric Bischoff (address book).
Thank you!
This project is sponsored by SUSE.
