PTC's Internship Program Trains Future Generation of Leaders

ImageImage

With more than a million members nationwide, the goal of the PTC is to improve the quality of television programming.  The PTC works with networks, producers, advertisers, civic organizations, public policy groups, and local television stations to encourage a sense of responsibility for what is broadcast into America's homes.

Using its one-of-a-kind archive of over 110,000 hours of television programming, the PTC analyzes and reports on trends in TV content. It also grades sponsors and networks on the quality of their shows, and provides decision makers in the entertainment industry, the corporate community and the public at large with an up-to-the-minute, factual, and unbiased view of the state of TV programming.

The Internship Program offers the opportunity for young people to pursue their interest in the entertainment fieldspecifically televisionand the impact it has on our culture. Interns will receive training and mentorship in areas such as advocacy, grassroots organizing, research, publications, public (as well as government and corporate) relations, fundraising and strategic planning, as well as the chance to develop these skills by working on projects for the PTC. The goal of the PTC's internship program is to provide college students with professional experience, leadership training, and practiced education.

The PTC hires interns for the spring, summer and fall. An internship during the academic term requires a commitment of 10-40 hours per week, for 12 weeks. Summer interns may work up to 40 hours per week for 15 weeks. Course credit is offered with paid parking.

Qualifications of a PTC intern include:

  • Desire to support the goals and mission of the PTC

  • Strong communication skills

  • Competent computer ability

  • Basic knowledge of and interest in the entertainment industry
