Liberty City's Familiar Hotel (Video)

From April 20-23, 2008, ten GTA premiere site managers were invited to come to New York City to play Grand Theft Auto IV early. The Hotel on Rivington was the name of the place we all stayed. Little did we know that the very hotel we were staying in had its own replica in Liberty City. Check out the full article on this exciting discovery.


Be sure to have a look at the short video I put together that gives a glimpse of the hotel in the game. It's definitely worth a look!

    GTA IV Breaks Guinness World Records

    We've already reported on the tremendous sales records of Grand Theft Auto IV, but what we didn't make note of, and didn't fully realize until today, is that it had entered the Guinness World Records. The company announced today that officially the game is now the biggest entertainment release of all-time, selling 3.6 million units and earning US$310 million in its first day of release.

    To put it a little more into perspective, Halo 3 sold US$170 million in its first 24 hours. Spider-Man 3, the fastest-selling movie in 24 hours, made US$60 Million, while the fastest-selling book was Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows at US$220 million.

    Seven Life Lessons from GTA IV

    John sent me a link to his Seven Life Lessons from GTA IV. Here's one of them:
    If you wanna make an omelet, you gotta break some eggs. GTA IV teaches you that when you want to accomplish something, you should go for it without worrying too much about stepping on other people's toes. When you carjack an old lady and only have 30 seconds to make it from the gun store to the respray shop, some people are gonna get run over in the process. If you want your boss's job, you might have to get him fired before you get the position. When you get what you want, people may get hurt. It comes with the territory.

    Sam Houser Talks EA Deal

    Rockstar Games President Sam Houser has made comments in an interview with the WSJ regarding the possible forthcoming EA takeover:
    If EA ends up with Take-Two, Mr. Houser says it's unlikely that he would go so far as to seek EA's approval for game content. Still, he calls Mr. Riccitiello "the real deal" and sees some appeal in an EA alliance, which he says would make Rockstar a "much smaller fish in much bigger pond."

    "I'm not someone who has any kind of problem with that," says Mr. Houser, who says EA turned him down for a job in the late 1990s.

    Police on Motorcycle in GTA IV (Video)

    As I was playing Grand Theft Auto IV on Sunday night, something interesting happened. A police officer was chasing a criminal. The criminal was wearing a helmet. A few seconds later, I shot some pedestrians in the very same area and got one wanted level star. Right after I got into a police car, the police officer from earlier hopped on the motorcycle that belonged to the criminal. I paused the game and grabbed my camera, unable to enable a direct feed connection without leaving the game. The video shows what happens next:


    Stay tuned over the next few days for even more videos of more interesting things in Grand Theft Auto IV. I'm already prepping them!
