Developer Treyarch has released the system requirements for the PC version of its World War II shooter Call of Duty: World at War, which hits retailers on November 11 alongside the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS versions.
While Treyarch was provided with the technology that powered Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, project lead Cesar Statsny GameSpot that the studio was "able to achieve this graphical intensity with only a modest bump in the minimum requirements from COD4."
The Xbox 360 and PC Limited Collector's Editions include the following:
Day 1 Edge: Dominate your rivals online and rank up faster with your instantly available FG 42 Machine Gun. The FG 42 is a high-level (45+) machine gun which you can have from day-one. Saw through your opponents from 50 yards with this fast firing machine gun.
Double Experience: Take advantage of a week of double experience in multiplayer to accelerate your advancement. (Limited time offer. Exact date for week of double experience will be announced on CallOfDuty.com, register online to receive confirmation of date and time and other key information.)
Colored Clan Tag: Identify your VIP-status in multiplayer with a uniquely colored clan tag.
Metal Storage Tin: Featuring Call of Duty inspired artwork, this collectable metal storage tin provides enough space to store multiple games and their cases.
Judging by our hands-on experiences with World at War, tanks seemed to be an enjoyable but not overwhelming addition to the otherwise classic Call of Duty multiplayer action. Crucially, the tank's cannon suffers from a sluggish firing rate and relatively small explosive radius, tradeoffs that enable infantry to sprint past safely in between volleys. If you want to be a true terror with the tank, you'll need to devote your Perks to upgrading the base speed and offensive power, though these sacrifices will leave you more vulnerable when on foot. And Call of Duty purists can relax, because tanks can be disabled via the match menu -- check a preference box and you'll automatically be redirected to infantry-only matches.
QUESTION: When will the beta start and how long will it last?

ANSWER: Absolutely. When the beta launches, well provide information about how you can communicate back to Treyarch.

Significant security / encryption re-write, which requires you to FRESH INSTALL. I will reiterate; your old server list will alert you it is detecting tampering if you do not do a fresh install. You have to then remove those servers from your list, and re-add them from scratch. Sorry! but I figured v0.8 was more important than that minor inconvenience.
Activision is suing an alleged software pirate for up to $150,000 per offense, Edge has learned.
Court filings from late August say that the publisher of the hit Call of Duty series is suing James R. Strickland of New York for copyright infringement, an act which includes illegally copying and distribution of games.
The case revolves specifically around the Xbox 360 version of 2006's CoD3, but Activision also accuses Strickland of "copying and/or distributing" other unnamed copyrighted videogames. The firm said that it intends to amend the current complaint "to add additional acts of infringement."
Ill start by telling you a little about myself, (I hope youll reciprocate in the Comments of this blog and tell me a bit about you too). My name is Josh JD Olin, and Im the Community Manager at Treyarch (thats me on the tank). I live in Santa Monica, California, but was born and raised in upstate New York. My favorite number is 2020, which is suggestive of my typical online screenname, JD_2020. I have been playing Call of Duty since its inception (pre-ordered CoD1) and have run several Call of Duty gaming communities over the years, which is actually how I got into the industry.

Im aiming to beat my personal best of 45 ranks in one weekend and aiming to rank up a over a full 55 ranks on PSN. Ill be partying up with a few of the IW crew on Friday from Noon - 4 pm (PT) to take advantage of the double XP.
To begin, please note that Treyarch is putting every ounce of our effort into making the best game we have ever made with Call of Duty World at War, and we are putting absolutely all of the content we can onto the disc, while maintaining the highest quality possible. I can confirm there will not be any game DLC available on day 1, contrary to popular rumor.
We do of course intend to support the community with robust and high-quality DLC after release, which we will start working on as soon as we wrap up the game (and some of the guys take a hard-earned break!), and I am looking forward to giving you details on that as soon as I can.
