ET Match Watch

While I search for more Wolfenstein flavoured treats for the day, you all can go watch some hot clan action via GamesTV! Here's the schedule for today:
  • fanatic-Gaming vs Business District - 14:00 EDT
  • Titanz vs [*EU*]United Soldiers of Europe - 15:00 EDT
  • Team [x] AntiClimax vs Overdose-Gaming - 15:15 EDT

Reveille

Another kind of slow one this morning, but hopefully I can find some goodies later on for you all. In the meantime I have to go and cook up a big pot of Pappy's famous spicy meatballs and sauce. I'm going to go against my regular style of big meatballs and try to make smaller ones this time so that our meatball subs will work out a little better. No matter how much I make, the big pot of love just never seems to last more than a couple days around here. Oh well, I guess that means it's appreciated.

RtCW Flavour Flick!

It's another slow day around here, so it's time for another Wolf flick! Here's the old Return to Castle Wolfenstein game trailer. Yeah, this is the one that got me so hot for the game I was ready to slap Super Soldats and tame Lopers into house pets.

Reveille

Did I mention that as soon as all the work is done and Planet DOOM is all fixed up, we'll be focusing on putting in the new game section for the new Wolfenstein game that's coming? I don't think I did talk about that, so let's do it now. After we get the new section up and running and the game gets closer, I'll be putting up areas of focus like a FAQ, single and multiplayer info areas and more, so if you'd like to help out and get your name on the pages of PW for all time, just let me know. There's going to be plenty of details to gather and the more help we get, the quicker it gets up. So that's what's coming for the old PW. I just hope we get a new site design in the process.

Three for Free

It's not as large a list as yesterday's, but GamesTV does have three ET matches on the schedule for today that you can catch live. Make some time for mayhem in your Monday!
  • Titanz vs AntiClimax - 15:00 EDT
  • Le batong powered by PIRKKA vs The Gathering Clan - 15:15 EDT
  • TAG vs TurboApinat - 15:30 EDT

Try Some Italian

The gorgeous ET map in progress, Streets of Italy (FP2) has a second version available with tweaks, fixes and changes to the gameplay. More map tweaks, item placements and additions will make this an almost new experience even if you played the first version. Check it out at Wolfmap!

Reveille

My hat's off to the Philadelphia Eagle's defense! They kept Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger on his back more than he was passing last night and upset the balance of the universe by beating my Steelers. Drat! They were all over him like a cheap suit, except more painful I'm betting. Welcome to sack city Ben. What a drag. My wife's Broncos won, which made her feel like she should apologize to me for the rest of the evening making me feel even worse. There's always next week!

Feshly Elite!

The etpub friendly Elitemod Beta 2 brings more to the game with a new class, the "Special Ops" (SpecOp) and much, much more! The newest build brings the project closer to it's goal with .55/2.60b compatibility under win32/Linux new Sten sounds and server options. Grab yourself a hunk with the new Elitemod Beta 2!

Reveille

It's Sunday and that means football in this house. My Steelers play at 4 PM and so does my wife's Broncos, and they're both on TV, which meant a battle for the big screen! My wife was sure I'd take the big LCD in the living room for my game and push her into the bedroom to watch on the little TV in there, but I fooled her! I told her right off the bat I'd watch mine in my office. How's that for grabbing some extra marriage points? I think I did well on this one, I'm just hoping she doesn't realize my TV down here is pretty good and also closer close to my beer fridge or my point value may go down. Shhh!

Feeling Fritzy

Wolfmap has a nice little bot package that includes the latest FritzBot along with waypoints for the ET bots from TomTom!
Last year Maleficus released a small experimental patch for his FritzBot which fixes the issue of bots trying to pick up docs/crates/gold/etc if they already have some. TomTom created waypoints for the FritzBot, and the 'new' files are stored in the "extras" folder which is included into the download file.

Punked Up

I missed this little nugget the other day, so here we go playing catch-up. The PunkBuster site has news of a recent bug find that caused some bad reports in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Here's the bits and bytes straight from the source.
We have confirmed that non-cheat software caused some of the kicks for Violation #80407. We encourage admins to give players the benefit of the doubt and ignore this violation number; it has been removed from our system.

Reveille

I don't think I posted about it here on Planet Wolfenstein, but I've been looking for a new Content Manager, or "page code monkey" for a while and I've finally made my decision on just who it would be. I'd like to introduce somebody who will be helping out immensely on all three of my Planet sites, and he goes by the online name of gimpod. You probably won't see much of him on the pages, but he'll be the one making sure things look like they should and run the way they should. It's not as much of an issue here on PW because we're still in the old style of Planet site, but Planet DOOM and Planet Quake are bigger, more complex and could use some work I just can't get done on my own. So all hail gimpod, and you will see that I'll have much more time for features and kool stuff here on the pages now, and that's a very goos thing what with the new Wolfenstein coming down the pipe in the future.

Entering the Frag Area

It's time for another rotting review from our two crusty movie maniacs, Sissy & Eggbert! This week they look at Frag Area 3, a frag flick that spreads the love, and body parts to a musical score, as do most of them. Find out if this one gets the job done or if you should save your bandwidth for more worthy fodder in the latest Sissy & Eggbert Go to the Movies!

Even More New Sounds

Put some extra sound bites into your ET with the latest release of the zTKBClan7 Soundpack! The new version packs in a full 100 sounds, the maximum where the earlier version only had 70. Options range from musical riffs to movie quotes and should provide some fresh grins during your battles, so grab it and listen up!

Reveille

I had a strange dream last night that I actually remember, and it was about RtCW single player. In my dream the game's enemies were much smarter and not only didn't the old "circle strafing" work, but they made a mockery of it, especially Heinrich. I was circling as per usual and he would react much differently, anticipating my moves and smacking me around like a rag doll. It was frustrating the hell out of me, and then I awoke with a growl in my throat and trash talk still on my lips. He was definitely badass and I'm glad the game isn't really that advanced, because trust me, we'd never beat him. I'll have to play that level sometime today to prove it was all just a bad dream!

Ray Tracing in ET: QW

Its time to talk Ray Tracing again, and this time Daniel Pohl is hot and heavy into working on his project via ET: QUAKE Wars! Hes got a new site up called QUAKE Wars Ray Traced that has the latest info as well as links to past progress on Quake 3 and Quake 4, but the new page packs in fresh screenshots of the process in action as well as a video in various sizes (Ive added the low end version to this post). If youre new to the idea of Ray Tracing, its another way to render computer video games that offers more detail and other possibilities that we may see in use in the future. Dig into it all at the new QUAKE Wars Ray Traced site!

Rage On

Theres a gaggle of new articles and posts about the upcoming Rage title from id Software, and while most of them are the same for the info they provide, Ill give you all the links for the day. The topics related in the latest rash are the size of the game for consoles, the future making of mods and the fact that this is the most story driven title in the history of id. (Thanks for the linkage Blue!)

Four Wars

The ET battles will be hot and heavy around the globe today as usual, but GamesTV has four on the schedule for today that you can watch live! Just head to GamesTV for details on hooking up and you're in for some real wars!
  • suckout vs NubsWithin - 12:30 EDT
  • kruger.et vs happyface #37th - 15:00 EDT
  • Authentic Gaming vs re-play Devilry - 15:45 EDT
  • S. N. Battalion vs Regulators - 16:00 EDT

Reveille

I got a good start time this morning, and that's a very good thing because there was a bunch of things I had to go through before I got to posting on the sites today. On the topic of postings, I'll be putting up a couple things today that aren't Wolfenstein specific, but they may be of interest to quite a few readers, so it's up they'll go. In other news, my constant companion, my dog Soliel, turned 4 years old the other day and that means she and I have been pretty much tied at the hip for nearly that long. There are few things you can count on in life, but a good dog is one of them and I'm thankful for mine. I just wish she wouldn't always lie on the base of my office chair because I always feel like a heartless jerk when I have to make her move.
