Today's question:
Now that you've spent a few days playing around with Windows 7, do you think it's worth upgrading to over Vista?
For all its flaws, though, we're still in love. Mastering the game's in-body platforming is an urgent thrill, beaten down less violently here under the auspices of our old friends keyboard and mouse, and stands out from the homogenised interfaces of modern first-person and platform games. The quality of EA's 2008 output was a pleasant surprise almost throughout, but even among its several triumphs this is the only game confident enough to merely reward you with a heightened command of what you were already doing - and the only one where that more than sufficed.
The Writers Guild of America has announced the nominees for its second annual Videogame Writing Award, honoring Fallout 3, Tomb Raider: Underworld, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble! The award was first given in 2008, with its stated goal to "encourage storytelling excellence in videogames, improve the status of writers, and foster uniform standards within the gaming industry."
“When we were younger, we’d go around saying, ‘If you had one superpower, would it be invisibility or flight?’,” recalls Dark Void lead designer Jose Perez. “Flight was the one where that was freedom. You’re not going to do that in real life, on that level.”“And not doing it in a plane enhances that,” adds Matt Brunner, the game’s art director.
Updates to Team Fortress 2 and Day of Defeat: Source have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:Additions

Sadly Microsoft has nothing to do with the pc patch... that delay is all us. The PC and 360 will be patched independently not sure where people picked up that exploit/bug fixing was tied together. Only the DLC will be simultaneous. The problem on the PC side was a few large bugs affected other systems that we were going to rewrite on the pc so we ended up waiting to fix a whole class of bugs instead of just individual bugs. The patch should be out this week.
From a performance standpoint, the game runs smoothly on a wide gamut of video cards, though slightly more graphically demanding than its predecessor. At 2560x1600, your best value for Call of Duty: World at War is, without a doubt, a GeForce GTX 280. You can buy one of those right now for $285 USD after MIR, and it even comes with free shipping. One notch down, at 1920x1200, the best buy we can recommend right now is a 1GB Radeon HD 4870, available for $224.99 USD after MIR. Finally, if you have a 20" or 22" widescreen LCD monitor, running at 1680x1050, you don't need to waste your money on a high end card. You can get an ATI Radeon HD 4850 for a mere $124.99 USD, after MIR, and you will be all set for Call of Duty: World at War.

Eidos is considering revising the look and play of her Tomb Raider adventures, which may see efforts to make her more female-friendly, in an attempt to revive sales of games starring the pneumatic archaeologist. Her proportions are said to be the result of a design error, when Toby Gard, a graphic artist, accidentally increased her bust-size to 150 per cent of what he intended it to be. The error proved popular with the rest of the design team, and he was persuaded to retain her physique.
Robert Brent, the chief financial officer of Eidos, said: “We need to look at everything, as we develop the next game. Look at how Batman changed succesfully, from the rather sad character of the Michael Keaton era to the noir style of The Dark Knight.”
In related news, the disappointing sales led to thirty lay-offs at developer Crystal Dynamics.
Neversoft plans to release more sequels to the "Guitar Hero" series — including the much-ballyhooed "Guitar Hero: Metallica" set for release during the first quarter of this year — but the company has let the Tony Hawk series go to another developer."It's probably best for the franchise ... it's time for someone else to add fresh ideas to it," Jewett said.
As for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, released late 2007, it has generated over $1 billion in sales. A first, apparently.
