The Grand Campaign Competition 2008 was headed up by Aro (Myself), and has provided the community with 4 incredible new single-player maps. Though no actual judging was done due to complications, it still gave us some really nice maps to play.
The list is:
Betrayal - Dutchygamer
Save a Nod officer fighting waves and waves of GDI troops. But wait! there's a twist.
MadHQ's map - MadHQ
After some recon work, build a GDI base and destroy Nod.
Red Death Unchained - ^Rampastien
Rescue a Nod officer, and transport him out of the region. Then, build a base and kill GDI.
Tactical Training - Team Black
Navigate your troops through the map and make your way to the GDI base. Capture train stations for additional reinforcements. Destroy both GDI and Cabal.
That's right folks, TiberiumWeb.com is finally back online after a long time of being down. Go to the TiberiumWeb forums and check it out once again, it's just like how it was left.
Welcome back TiberiumWeb!
A New competition has been announced by MadHQ.
This competition is all about coding and .ini files only. No new custom .GFX is allowed in the competition and you must rely on the .ini files only. Being as there have been so many voxel / SHP / mapping competitions over the years, MadHQ decided to go for something new and different. The competition is basically a mini-mod competition where you're only allowed to submit .ini files, the competition is for both TS/FS and RA2/YR. It's your choice which game you want to make your mini-mod for.
- Submissions must be something new, and not something pre-existing that you've / someone else has been working on
- Only one submission per person
- Only one person per submission (No more than one person is allowed to work on a submission)
- Rockpatch / ETS / NPatch etc. are all allowed
- No mod maps allowed
- No new GFX / Map related files (but you can use the un-used files from the original game mix's. You cant submit any new files with the inis.)
- No strings (.CSF) needed but you can add them to your submission though it will have no major effect on your score.
Technical 20 Points (Is the code good and solid, like no IE's or fancy if there is such a thing when it comes to coding.)
Balanced 20 Points (Are the sides equal or are the uneven spamming nuclear grizzly tanks.)
Creative 20 Points (Are you able to pull something good off with only code.)
Game play 20 Points (At the end of it all is it any good.)
AI 20 Points (Does your AI use new units or did it grow smarter.)
Total 100 Points - Plus Pie factor 10 Points (Where MadHQ sees fit, if any.)
Finally your codes must be entirely new and not stolen from somewhere or someone else. Make up your own codes!
There is a lot of information on this competition, please read here for more information.
All rumours about Red Alert 3 Uprising expansion pack seen in the end of the last year are correct and, today, EA has just confirmed the obvious: they are really working on RA3's expansion pack called Uprising. Unlike the original rumours, they are going with a full expansion pack which includes 4 mini campaigns (they didn't use 'mini' for the 9 missions campaign from the original game), some new units for all factions and new game modes. Here's the press release:
Quote:
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) announced today that the third iteration of the Command & Conquer franchises beloved Red Alert series is returning with Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising exclusively for the PC. An epic single-player campaign expansion, the standalone title catapults players deeper into the Red Alert universe, giving them more of the action-packed gameplay they have been clamoring for, while offering a gauntlet of new and compelling challenges with the new Commanders Challenge mode. Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising will be available for digital download this March.
"Uprising is a game that in many ways reflects the feedback we have gotten from the Command & Conquer community," said Amer Ajami, Senior Producer at EA Los Angeles. Were giving gamers more of what they want more of the fast, fluid and fun gameplay, more of the story we began to tell in Red Alert 3 and more cutscenes featuring top-notch Hollywood talent. At the same time, were excited were going to be able to bring new things to the mix, including new units and the Commanders Challenge, which is a great way for players to hone their skills and get deeper into the combat."
Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising takes players into the aftermath of the epic battles in Red Alert 3, with the Soviets still reeling from a crushing defeat, the Empire of the Rising Sun desperately trying to regain both honor and identity and the seemingly victorious Allies finding themselves in the midst of corruption and deceit within their own ranks. In addition to four mini-campaigns, one for each faction and one bonus campaign centered on the origins of the Empire of the Rising Suns commando Yuriko, Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising will also introduce the new Commanders Challenge, enabling the players to test their skills against a set of nine commanders from different territories and difficulty levels in 50 unique challenges with their own special rules and unique conditions.
In true Command & Conquer fashion, top Hollywood talent will be delivering the gripping story in full HD live-action cinematics. Fan favorites Gemma Atkinson and Ivana Milicevic will make their stunning return to the high ranks of the Allied and Soviet leaderships and will be joined by an all new set of stars, who will be announced soon.
Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising is a standalone game and does not require Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 to play. This product has not yet been rated by the ESRB, PEGI or USK. For more information about Red Alert 3, please visit www.redalert3.com.
At the moment, EA plans to distribute it through digital means only. Hopefully, it should be available on Steam with other EA games. So, if you don't have a broadband connection, this game isn't made for you. Afterall, the original Red Alert 3 DVD has miserables 6.6gb, where almost 3.8gb are vp6 movies. At least another 2.7gb are game installation files and language related, so you should see have to download a file thatis bigger than 3gb. I trully hope they change their mind about it.
Other than that, check www.redalert3.com for concepts from these new units and much more information about the game. We'll be covering it here in a more modding based way, but the lack of mod SDK for the original game and lack of news about it will certainly be a big problem for us.
Hey everyone! We've been quiet recently, but we are alive and kicking. Afterall, PPM lives in death as well. Kane isn't the only one. We even had a mod release few days ago, but I have yet to get a picture to post about it here. So far, we have this movie below about an old version of Tiberian Sun: World Of Insanity:
I've personally been busy taking extra hours at work and programming in my free time. I'm seriously thinking about renaming OS BIG Editor, because it should really edit much more than .BIG files. I'm also working again on VXLSE III, which should be my main focus on the next months, due to my final project in the university.
Anyway, it's time for the usual community news, so let's get into it:
ModDB Awards
The 'which mod is the most popular FPS mod' award is back online, now at the 2008's edition. And, likewise the previous editions, it has 3 phases. First, the nominations, where you can nominate all the mods that you want. Then, the top 100 voting. And finally, the winners showcase. So, we'd like you to take less than a minute of your life to support the mods from our community. All you need is an account there and give it a nomination.
The previews of the voxels submitted to the Grand Winter 2008 Voxel competitions have now been posted up for public voting. Vote for which voxel you think is the best and should win the competition:
1: US Main Battle Tank
2: Sniper Tank

Happy 2009 everyone! Last year was good, but very hectic for me. And this one still starts quite hectic, because I've done what I could to place a mobile version of PPM online and... so far, we can call it early public beta.
The advantages of the mobile site is that it consumes less bandwidth, there is no ajax or anything complex for your mobile browser, pictures won't be bigger than the size of the screen, there won't be any advertisement and no Revora network bar either, although I'm not sure if the lack of network bar is an advantage or disadvantage.
In the next days, I'll be fully synchronizing the sections from both main and mobile versions of PPM. Also, a screenshot is comming soon. I just haven't finished the job now because I'm definitelly looking like a zombie (it's almost 8:00 am here and I haven't slept yet).
And finally, if a mobile work in progress version of the site isn't enough, we have a Youtube Video Channel as well. Check it out at:
http://www.youtube.com/PPMod
At the moment, I haven't published any video of my own. I'm just collecting videos. Also, it features a PPM Playlist with musics from Tiberian Odyssey and Twisted Insurrection. It should work well as a radio.
Once I wake up, I'll get these things finished or better, but any suggestions are welcomed, as usual.
