Autobot Menace! In a strange coincidence, I got taken out of action for a little over a week by a minor car accident. I'm nearly certain that I saw the Autobot insignia on the offending vehicle.

Yahoo! Names Transformers Third Best Sci-Fi Movie 3:28 PST | DennisFarrell | Print News | Category: MovieIn a new article on Yahoo! Movies, Transformers has been picked as the third greatest sci-fi film of all time. The list features thirty movies which were purely ranked by fan voting, and the exclusion of Blade Runner calls the entire poll into question. Perhaps everyone who participated thought they were playing some sort of "Punch the monkey, win a Nintendo Wii" ad banner game and clicked on the movie titles which were vaguely monkey-like in shape when looked at through squinted eyes.
Either way, us Transformers fans are happy to walk away with the bronze medal.

Buy Transformers On Blu-Ray, Get $10 Back 5:09 PST | DennisFarrell | Print News | Category: MovieDo you already have a copy of Transformers on DVD? Thinking about upgrading to the Blu-Ray version when it comes out? If you said "yes" to both questions, you're in luck. If you said it out loud and you're dressed like Napoleon, you're in need of therapy.
An article on CDFreaks.com is reporting that Paramount pictures will be offering a $10 refund to customers who upgrade many of their titles from DVD to Blu-Ray.
To participate, you must purchase a qualified Blu-ray title by December 31st 2009 and postmark your submission by January 31st 2010. The submission must include the proof of purchase tabs from both the DVD and the Blu-ray, as well as the Blu-ray receipt.
Sounds like a pretty sweet deal. It's also worth emphasizing that you only need the proof of purchase tab from your DVD, and not the actual receipt that you probably threw out months ago.
The actor recently spent time in a Los Angeles hospital and underwent surgery on his hand after a July car accident. Shia's injuries will be written into the script of the 'Transformers' sequel.
Word had begun circulating that Shia would need to have several fingers amputated, but thankfully rumors of his pinky's demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Transformers Blu-Ray Previewed By IGN 3:19 PST | DennisFarrell | Print News | Category: MovieThe Blu-Ray release of Transformers won't be coming to the U.S. until September 2nd, but our pals at IGN DVD have been hard at work putting together an in-depth preview of everything that separates this disc from the previous releases.
In addition to superior picture, sound and bonus material presented in high definition, the Blu-ray presentation provides consumers with sensational BD-Live features, allowing for compelling experiences around the film and the opportunity to maintain engagement with fans. Features include an Intelligence Mode in which an on-screen dashboard over the film provides information about the robots and weapons, their strength levels, character updates, a GPS Locator and more. The Transformers Profiler can be activated at any time during the film and allows viewers to access detailed information about the cast, voice talent and filmmakers including biographies and filmographies, as well as extensive production notes on the movie itself. The Menubots can be downloaded through BD-Live and give fans the option to customize their in-movie menus with Optimus Prime, Megatron or Bumblebee themes.

The footage includes a presentation of the upcoming Transformers: Animated video game for the Nintendo DS, giving us our first look at the game in action. It may be a little difficult to make out at times, but it's the best we have until Activision releases some proper videos.
Catch IDW's Comic Con Transformers Presentation 5:05 PST | DennisFarrell | Print News | Category: ComicsIDW Publishing's Transformers editor Denton J. Tipton has updated his blog with a direct feed of the Transformers slide show presentation he used at this year's San Diego Comic Con. The presentation has been converted directly from its original format to video, so there's no shaky cam or socially awkward geeks such as myself yelling random unfunny things. If you didn't get a chance to see IDW at Comic Con yourself, this is the next best thing.
The car crash with Shia is unexpected, but we are still filming. The movie has not shut down - there is plenty to do without Shia. The shooting is also going great - I'm having a blast making this movie! Shia will be back soon and we wish all wish him a fast recovery.
Although the other driver involved in the accident has been found to be at fault, LaBeouf was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and a report on Variety claims that although shooting of the Transformers sequel never stopped as a result of the incident, it did throw a wrench in the works.
A DreamWorks insider said there was no work stoppage on "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" -- a follow-up to last year's global box office hit -- but added that rescheduling has proven to be a logistical headache. Scenes featuring co-star Josh Duhamel had to be moved to this week to work around LaBeouf's absence. Another person familiar with the situation said, "Everyone had to adjust their schedule."
This will hopefully be the last bit of news to come out of the whole situation, but if anything else develops (Megan Fox smoking PCP and punching a police dog, Michael Bay robbing a convenience store, Optimus Prime being named John McCain's running mate) we'll keep you informed.

LaBeouf Injured, Arrested Again 3:31 PST | DennisFarrell | Print News | Category: MovieShia LaBeouf has already had several run-ins with the law since the release of Transformers, refusing to leave a Walgreens while intoxicated and failing to appear in court for an unrelated charge. Now TMZ is reporting that LaBeouf has been arrested for suspicion of a felony DUI after flipping his car and injuring his hand so badly that it needed extensive surgery. Several reports indicate that his Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen co-star Isabel Lucas was a passenger in his vehicle, but she was apparently uninjured.
We'll keep an eye out to see if this news has any impact on the filming of the sequel.
Bay has said in the past that Orci and Kurtzman sold him on the concept of a first Transformers movie by explaining that at its core the story was really about a boy and his car. So what theme lies at the heart of the sequel? Orci revealed that Its about being away from home. Its a few years later and Sam is going to finally go to college and hes going to face being away from home just as the autobots are having to deal with being away from Cybertron.
The full interview, including a question about Megatron's return, can be found here.
The game looks to put a heavy focus on puzzle solving, with each Transformer featuring its own strengths to utilize during each level. Players must get their robots to work as a team in order to snag the three Allspark shards required to finish the challenge.
Of course, it wouldn't be a Transformers game without the ability to, you know, transform. And in Transformers Animated you'll be able to slam through streets weaving in and out of traffic.
