The US Army videogame development unit initially formed this group of talented developers to create America's Army, an ambitious recruitment project that took on the form of a first-person shooter powered by then state-of-the-art Unreal technology.

Composed of programmers, scientists, directors, and artists in and out of the Army's ironclad clutches, the group of "empowered individuals" still refers to their projects by cryptic Army standards like "3D game" and "Project that has nothing to do with aliens."
