“Please God, make the balloons smaller”
From a telephone conversation today with Samah Sabawi who, speaking through tears, says that she finds herself unable to write her thoughts, but wants to stress the following points:
In talking to sister-in-law, she constantly heard explosions in the background, but so far her in-laws are living in a relatively safe area and have taken in some families with children. The children have been told that what they are hearing are great big balloons bursting, which at first lightened the mood, even though the kids know these are really the sounds of explosion. Now the kids, when they say their prayers, are asking God for smaller balloons. Read more…

Lie upon lies upon lies
The earlier lies were refuted…
…but the liars and the lies go on…
(And the new lies to go along with the old aren’t even very good ones - “During the conversation, the men were also instructed to kill all the Israelis who were held captive in the Jewish hostel, but to spare all the Muslims.” Spare all the Muslims in the Jewish hostel?!? What Muslims?)

Mumtaz Bhutto Arrested, Protests Continue
However, reported Dawn, the SNF has denied the allegations, saying the arrest of Bhutto was a case of “political victimization.” Ameer Baksh Bhutto, Mumtaz’s son, told the news agency, “My father is being victimized for criticizing Asif Ali Zardari…SNF workers visited the newspaper’s office in a goodwill gesture and complained that the newspaper is not giving due coverage to the party.

Qassam Perspective
…an Israeli is more likely to be struck by lightning than by a Qassam. Outside Sderot and a couple of other towns, the chances of getting hit by one of these firecrackers is zero. In fact, in the USA, more people die from bee stings in a year (around 50) than the entire total of Israelis killed by Qassams or mortars in history.

Palestine’s Guernica by Mustafa Barghouti
….What is occurring is nothing short of a war crime, yet the Israeli public relations machine is in full swing, churning out lies by the minute.
Once and for all it is time to expose the myths that they have created:…
Israeli Deception and Barbarity by Peter Chamberlin
Israel has held a unique position among “civilized” nations, in that it has been allowed to control the international debate about itself and its treatment of the controlled Palestinian territories, by forcing diplomats and the Western press to use a special vocabulary of redefined words….
Raining Death by Saleh al-Naami
…Israel continued shelling security command centres and Interior Ministry institutions of Ismail Haniyeh’s Hamas government. Mosques, local council buildings, factories, blacksmith workshops and sport centres were also razed.
More than 60 police stations and security centres have been destroyed. The Israeli air force has flattened two campuses of the Islamic University in Gaza — the largest educational institute in the occupied territories — together with 100 residential buildings, 15 of which were occupied….

DW Notification January 04, 2008
As a result of Government of Pakistan notification to block only three pages of DictatorshipwWatch, surprisingly the whole site has been blocked in Pakistan.
In view of the Government of Pakistan’s concern, DictatorshipWatch has withdrawn the 3 URL that were initially deemed offensive ( See: here and here and here ) so that the entire website and its educational, political content and dialog is not blocked.
It is only in the best interest of Pakistan, its peoples, and its emergent democracy with its new found toleration for dissenting viewpoints, that the site is not banned.
We earnestly hope the government of Pakistan will take notice of the total block on DictatorshipWatch and our withdrawing the three URLs to facilitate removing the ban.
