Relevant News and Information that you actually want delivered straight to your desktop
The Newzdog widget is a simple and easy to use desktop alert notification system enabling you to receive news and information that is only relevant to you.
The Independent Newzdog widget allows you to search as you would with a normal search engine, but with the added benefit that you can save these searches, to deliver breaking news stories published by The Independent.
Rather than having to trawl through all the news stories published on a daily basis, you can choose to be alerted to only the stories that are of interest, saving you valuable time and ensuring that every story sent through to your desktop is relevant to you. It puts you in control of how you want to read your news!
How do I add a new search?:
Simply enter a search term of interest in the search box updates on that search term as they are published.
How do I delete a search?
If you no longer wish to receive updates on a certain topic you can quickly and easily delete the search term. Open the widget and in the right hand side of the widget click the del link next to the search you wish to delete.
How do I delete a message?
From with the widget simply click the delete link next to the update you wish to remove.
How do I stop being prompted when I delete a message?

Uncheck the "Confirm before Delete" checkbox found under "Options / Exit"
How do clear out my messages for a search?
Click the "Clr" link next to the search. This will remove all message updates sent to this search
How do I turn the sound on or off?
Uncheck the the "play sound" option.

Uncheck the "Issue Toast Notifications option"

How do I register my mobile phone and get my free SMS messages?
Click on the "SMS Option"
Found under "Options Exit". This will take you to the
SMS registration page where you can sign up for your free SMS entitlement.
How do I email a search update message to a friend?
Open the search update message. Click on the e-mail envelope icon on the top right hand corner.
