Starting in 1996, Alexa Internet has been donating their crawl data to the Internet Archive. Flowing in every day, these data are added to the Wayback Machine after an embargo period.

CGI: Common Gateway Interface
An HTTPserver is often used as a gateway to a
legacy information system; for example, an existing body of
documents or an existing database application. The Common Gateway
Interface is an agreement between HTTP server implementors about
how to integrate such gateway scripts and programs.
It is typically used in conjunction with HTML forms to build database
applications.

distributed applications on the web.
This directory is the repository for the effort (reactivated in
November of 1997) to turn the de facto Common Gateway Interface
"standard" into an actual Informational RFC.
