Combat Arms brings in some new weapons to add to its arsenal. The AA-12 Shotgun, M417 SB machine gun and M93 Hornet Mine are the three newcomers. There are also some new features for how players can acquire rare weapons and retain them for longer periods. - 6 Comments
Gigabyte Ghost GM-M8000X Laser Gaming Mouse Review @ PCStats.com - PCStats final word is "highly recommends", saying it's a high performance mouse at bargain basement prices (about $60 USD).

While optical mice have finally managed to vanquish ball mice as the standard pointing device, a lot of computer users have been content that their optical mice are "good enough". Gamers on the other hand demand way more from their mice, and that's why a little beauty by the name of the Gigabyte Ghost GM-M8000X laser gaming Mouse exists. You'll find a nine button performance mouse built for competitive gaming around a 6000 DPI laser sensor with on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment and a high 1000 reports/second USB polling rate.

Not The News...

The weekend went by way too fast. Who's with me? I call for a recount! I did, however, get in many rounds of StarCraft II. My win/loss record is embarrassing to say the least. The game is fun, but it seems really slow paced. Anyone playing? What are your thoughts so far?

Fictoids

  • In England, in the 1880's, 'Pants' was considered a dirty word.
  • A 'face-off' in hockey was originally called a 'puck-off'.
  • All major league baseball umpires must wear black underwear while on the job.
  • Whoopi Goldberg's real name is Caryn Elaine Johnson.
  • Former U.S. President Franklin Pierce was arrested during his term as President for running over an old lady with his horse, but the charges were later dropped.

Gratuitous Space Battles: The Order DLC Released
- 2 Comments
Priced $5.99, The Order addon pack keeps Cliffski in business, pays his rent, and feeds his cats:

Be warned heathen un-believers. The Galaxy is not your plaything. This galaxy was created in a weekend by the one true god, and he has no room in it for the likes of heathen aliens such as you. If your species is not listed in the holy book of the one true god, then it's pretty clear you are mistake, and the order is here to rectify mistakes. For is it not written (depending on translations) that the total destruction of all alien species with devastating radioactive cannons and nuclear space-missiles is the will of the one true god? So say us. So say The ORDER.

The Order is the latest species in the universe of Gratuitous Space Battles. The order are here to do gods work, and it's done primarily through nuclear missiles, limpet mines and radiation guns. Apparently leafleting and hymns just didn't get the job done. In any case, the order have you in their sights. Prepare to be crushed alien swine.

What The Order Expansion Pack Contains:

11 New ships. 4 Cruisers 3 Frigates and 4 fighters, all in a new graphical style by the same artist who did the original GSB artwork. The order ships use tractor beams to keep the different components together. Girders are so 2450's.

4 New weapon type: The radiation gun does impact damage plus ongoing internal radiation damage as its effects devastate your ship from the inside. Nuclear missiles provide the same entertainment in missile form. Firefly rockets give normal cruiser rockets a boost of speed, and lastly, cunning anti-fighter limpet mines latch on to incoming fighters and drag them down to speeds where everyone can take pot shots at them.

New ship bonuses. The order ships have pretty poor engines, but those big green throbbing powerplants kick out more juice on order ships. What could you design given more power and less speed? The order is your opportunity to find out.

2 New Scenarios. Two maps for you to fight against the order, One is a normal map, but with the fun and games of a nice aesthetically pleasing 3D style asteroid field (does not affect gameplay but looks cool), and the other is a 'survival' mode match where you play last ship standing and try to score higher than other players in the global high score table.

What The Pack Does NOT Contain:

Completely new gameplay modes, and major features that change how the game plays, any new AI orders... basically anything that is not listed in the list above. This is basically a data-pack with new ships, not a sequel or gameplay re-write.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Review, Video Review & Trailer
- 62 Comments
Battlefield: Bad Company 2. You've played it right? Some of the best audio you've ever heard, great graphics (even on consoles), and majestic multiplayer. Wrong! If you listen to IGN that is, who have posted the first online review of DICE's latest magnum opus.

Let's do a comparison of their ratings for Modern Warfare 2 and Bad Company 2:

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Presentation: 8.0

The team at DICE went for a more cinematic and epic feel with Bad Company 2 and almost nailed it.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Presentation: 8.5

The graphical presentation is great, but campaign’s storytelling needs work. Single player is short, and doesn’t entirely live up to the Call of Duty standard.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Graphics: 9.0

Those backdrops sure are gorgeous. The destructible environments add to the chaos quite nicely.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Graphics: 10

What was already an impressive graphical engine has only improved over the last two years. More effects, grander environments, and a truly spectacular overall visual offering.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Sound: 9.0

Some fantastic audio samples and above average voice acting.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Sound: 10

Along with graphical design, Modern Warfare 2’s audio is upped substantially. Authentic weapon sounds and more in-game chatter mix with a beautiful adaptive score by Hans Zimmer.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Gameplay: 9.0

Solid shooting mechanics and an excellent approach to multiplayer combat.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Gameplay: 9.0

There’s no single AC-130 “wow” moment in single player, but it’s fun throughout. Special Ops mode and multiplayer are must-play, and completely make the package.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Lasting Appeal: 9.0

This is the kind of multiplayer game you can go back to for months and months without getting bored.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Lasting Appeal: 10

While campaign is short, Spec Ops mode is an awesome addition to the package. Multiplayer is stronger than ever, and truly limitless in replay value.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Overall: A 'Great' 8.9/10

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Overall: An 'Incredible' 9.5/10

Ridiculous. What's more, if you watch the video review, Erik starts off by stating that he didn't like the original Bad Company - why then are you reviewing a 'bigger, better, more badass' sequel? He also makes uninformed comments about Bad Company 2 copying Call Of Duty-style perks, complains about constant action, which is apparently fine in Modern Warfare 2, and then moans that multiplayer matches "end abruptly." Well Erik, that's because you ran out of tickets.

I don't know what to make of Erik's coverage. Did he bother to play multiplayer for more than a few minutes? Is he half-blind and deaf? I can't wait to read the inevitably terrible PC review re-edit...
