True Crime: Is it Hard Boiled?

By Bryn Williams | PlayStation 3 Screenshots | Mar 10, 2010 5:13 AM

Those cheeky Chinese gangsters -- the Triads -- are up to no good again. At least according to Activision's new True Crime game, they're not. It's a good job then that we've scored the very first batch of screenshots from the upcoming Hollywood/Asian-style action adventure. You'll be assuming the role of detective Wei Shen who'll be laying down fists, feet and bullets later this year when the game arrives on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. See More »

The Exotic Racing pack is set to hit the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 18th, and it'll be costing fans of the game 800 Microsoft Points (that's 10 of your Earth dollars in case you were wondering.) The pack introduces seven of the sexiest cars the planet has ever seen including the McLaren MP4-12C, Gumpert Apollo and the BMW M1. Mmmmm, tasty. See More »

By Mike Sharkey | PlayStation 3 News | Mar 9, 2010 5:32 PM | Comment

Mapathy (n.) [map-uh-thee] (often expressed as, "How the hell did you know I was there?!") is a state of indifference to the same old maps one has been playing for the last several months. It's also the made-up word Infinity Ward is using to announce the first map pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, coming to Xbox Live on March 30. Frag the jump for details. Read More »

Rock Band 3 Announcement Not Unexpected

By Mike Sharkey | PlayStation 3 News | Mar 9, 2010 12:33 PM | Comment

Last we heard from Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman, the media conglomerate was looking for a hefty refund from Rock Band creator Harmonix following a lackluster 2009. And substantial layoffs at the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based developer cast the future of its music game franchise in doubt. But for now, at least, all is well. Today Dauman announced Rock Band 3 will ship for holiday 2010, and Harmonix welcomed pop megastar Lady Gaga to its roster of musicians. Read More »

EA Asks Murder Simulator Experts for Fatality Advice

By Mike Sharkey | PlayStation 3 News | Mar 9, 2010 11:39 AM | Comment

Isaac got nasty with his plasma cutter in EA and Visceral's 2008 survival horror game Dead Space, practicing the title's much-touted strategic dismemberment on unrelenting Necromorphs with sadistic artistry. But the engineer's melee kills, chiefly a boot to the dome, were comparatively tame. The team at Visceral wants to change that in Dead Space 2, and they want your help. Read More »

Former Pitcher Curt Schilling Assembling World-class Team for RPG Caper

By Mike Sharkey | PlayStation 3 News | Mar 9, 2010 10:36 AM | Comment

Retired Major League pitcher Curt Schilling earned the nickname "Red Light" during his playing days for his tendency to talk to the media the moment a camera's red light blinked on. So it's been somewhat surprising Schilling has been relatively mum on the games his startup company, 38 Studios, have been working on since 2006. And it makes today's news out of the Massachusetts-based company that much bigger: Single-player RPG "Project Mercury" will be published by EA Partners for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Read More »

First Bodycount Screens Feature RoboCop Cameo

By Bryn Williams | PlayStation 3 Screenshots | Mar 9, 2010 2:54 AM

EA's last-gen shooter Black was often touted as being "gun porn." Whether or not that's a bad thing is a matter of personal taste, but the game's lead designer Stuart Black is now onboard with Codemasters in the UK and is spearheading his new FPS project, Bodycount. We've snagged the first couple official shots, and we're expecting to see great things in the future. See More »

Bad Company 2 Swarmed, Ripped Apart by Fans

By Mike Sharkey | PlayStation 3 News | Mar 8, 2010 11:42 AM | Comment

Electronic Arts billed DICE's Battlefield: Bad Company 2 as a worthy challenger to Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. But after its first week on the shelves, it appears EA had no idea just how popular Bad Company 2 would become, as droves of gamers flocked to the game and wreaked havoc on EA's ill-prepared servers all weekend long. Death to Coworkers: Hands-on with ModNation Racers

By GameSpy Staff | PlayStation 3 Previews | Mar 8, 2010 11:10 AM | Comment

We've been curious about ModNation Racers since it debuted at E3 last year -- we all love kart racers -- but we were unsure about how it would play, and how well the much-touted level creation system would work. Yesterday the devs stopped by our office for a long-awaited demo. We enjoyed a demo of the level creator -- which looks incredible, allowing players to create levels, characters, and cars with the same tools the developer used -- but what we really wanted was to try out the racing for ourselves. Several swear-inducing, four-player split-screen races later, here are our thoughts... Read More »

Video: Ubi Designers Think New Prince of Persia's Awesome

By | PlayStation 3 Videos | Mar 8, 2010 9:00 AM

My recent preview tried to emphasize how much the new Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands was a return to the Sands of Time days, but I think the new dev diary really gets the point across. If you're skeptical after the last PoP game, I highly encourage you to check out this film, because despite all the people who worked on the game telling you how awesome their game is, there's also a lot of footage that shows the new Prince in action. Check it out. See More »
