As viewers of the recent Cataclysm beta videos might have noticed, Blizzard has been making small upgrades to the game engine. What you may not know is that Blizzard actually polls your system to get a good feeling of how gamers upgrade their hardware. Therefore, it is probably a safe bet that if your computer can't handle the new improvements, you are behind the times buddy!
The more recent beta Cataclysm builds have added Experimental DirectX 11 support. This can be enabled by adding `SET gxApi "d3d11"` to your config.wtf. If you don't have beta access though, you are in luck. The guys over at PC Games Hardware have some side-by-side shots of the expansion for your viewing.

Darion Mograine
"The Knights of the Ebon Blade will not falter."
Darion Mograine was stillborn but his father, Alexandros, dipped him in a freezing cold stream of water and he awoke. His mother died from complications from his birth. In Darions younger years he insisted on fighting with his father in the plagued city of Stratholme. He took a serious wound that nearly killed him. While he was unconscious, his brother, Renault, betrayed his father and Alexandros the Ashbringer was slain. In the act of killing his father with his own sword, Renault corrupted the Ashbringer and trapped his fathers soul with it. Unable to use the blade, Renault left it with the body of his father. His treachery went unknown to anyone.
Upon learning of his fathers death, Darion began to question the Light and was confronted by a troll priest named Zabra Hexx. Zabra tells Darion that his fathers spirit has not passed on and that he can feel the connection to Alexandros through the Light. Darion asks him where his father can be found and Zabra tells him that he had seen a vision of a fortress floating above a burning city then vanishes mysteriously.
The seemingly ancient battle between Tarren Mill and Southshore rages on in this expansion. Take a look at the war's progress in this full 1080p HD video of Hillsbrad Foothills on the beta Cataclysm servers.

Originally, Blizzard designed Death Knights to be able to tank no matter what tree you specced into. This was done in the hopes of increasing the number of tanks available. But it seems to have backfired in an unexpected way. Having to balance three trees to be able to tank or DPS made for a nightmare of constant tweaks with every patch which further led to many imbalances and complications. Many players abandoned their DK's in favor of less complicated and more stable classes.
For Cataclysm, Blizzard intends to scrap the three tanking trees idea and just go with Blood as the tank tree. Do you agree with this change? Do you think it will help stabilize the class? Will you miss tanking as Frost or Unholy? Do you think it will help encourage more players to pick up their Death Knights and try tanking again? Do you think it will just make Death Knights glorified warriors now?
The Topic of the Week is a contest run by WoW Vault! The best reply will receive VIP Insider for 2 weeks! Potential winning posts are judged according to length, interpretation of the subject and writing style.

From March through July, WoW Vault will be running a series of spotlights to celebrate each of World of Warcraft's classes! Every two weeks we'll be spotlighting a different class and during that time we'll be doing class themed things around the WoW Vault! Warriors charged off stage to allow room for our final spotlight, Death Knight!
Death Knights were once the heroes of Azeroth. Claimed in death by the Lich King, they returned to their old comrades to assist in the destruction of the evil one who made them. Wielding runeblades and runic spells they conquer their enemies by sowing death and decay where they walk.
Check out everything we have coming up to celebrate Death Knights everywhere!

As of the latest Cataclysm build, Reforging has been activated, somewhat. The NPCs have been added, but they are currently non-functional except to explain this small tidbit of Reforging.
Basically you can trade 40% of a secondary attribute, like dodge, critical strike, et cetera, for another secondary attribute by paying a price in gold equal to the value of the item at an NPC in town.
As far as the paladin changes go, we have made no secret that we haven't happy with the paladin gameplay on live, of all three trees, and the class was headed for a pretty radical redesign. There can be very few sacred cows as part of that process or we're not going to have the design space we need to fix the problems.
The current Cataclysm rotation is far from static and was in fact so frenetic that we had to scale back on some of the random procs and Holy Power generation or paladins were never going to have the bandwidth to do things like position the boss. It was far away the most complex tank rotation, and that's not what we were going for.
We're trying a lot of new ideas and it's going to take some iteration before we're happy with them. The current snapshot you are getting in beta is just a snapshot -- it's whatever the data happened to look like at the time when we made a build.
Does it sound like they are just throwing around ideas for the Paladin who will be haphazardly tossed together at the last minute? Well you aren't the only one that feels that way on the official forums.
