Major Updates to Trademark and Logo Guidelines—January 2012

No Use of HDMI Version Numbers Effective Immediately
Effective January 1, 2012, all HDMI products cannot make any reference to HDMI version numbers.
Please refer to updated Adopted Trademark and Logo Guidelines (ATLUG) for further guidance. There is no grace period for this requirement.
Cable Labeling Requirements
The HDMI Specification now identifies five distinct cable types, each with specific performance characteristics.
To help ensure that retailers, installers, and consumers can easily identify the right cable for their needs, all HDMI cables must be clearly marked with the appropriate cable type name, as shown here:

HDMI Licensing, LLC has created these cable type logos to be used in the packaging and promotion of all HDMI cables. They are designed to provide a quick visual identification of the cable type and help avoid any mix-ups. The versions shown above are displayed at low resolution, for illustration purposes only. To download high-resolution versions of the cable type logos, log into the Adopter Extranet and click on the “HDMI logos” link.
