Thomas Doyle creates dioramas that feature tiny hand-painted figures surrounded by domesticity and destruction. Families carry on amidst the debris of disrupted lives, as a whole house hovers above the hole in the ground it used to occupy while a woman greets her folks on the porch. Another home protrudes from a rocky surface, as its dwellers wander the barren landscape above. In yet another disaster, a family is shown in the remains of their abode, the rest of it having left behind a huge void. Doyle's sculptures are sophisticated in both their details and their message.
