Welcome aboard fellow
pre-dreadnought
enthusiasts! In 1906, the launching of HMS
Dreadnought, with her
overwhelming firepower, tremendous speed, excellent protection, ease of
construction, and low operating costs, made all existing battleships
obsolete. However, 16 of the old-style vessels remained in service for
nearly 40 years, until the Second World War. They continued as hulks,
accommodation ships, training vessels, and even combat units. This site
is dedicated to those units, which stubbornly refused to fade into the
sunset simply because they were obsolete.
