Nexus 7 Overview
Android fans will know that having a Nexus device is about the nicest treat. The devices are usually very well designed and have awesome specs. Not to mention the fact that they are the first in line to get updates.
The Nexus brand hasn't reached the tablet market until now, though. And Android fans have been praying for such a tablet to be released. If you fall under that category, you will be happy to know that Google has released the Nexus 7.
The Nexus 7 is a 7-inch device with a Tegra 3 processor manufactured by ASUS. Also, this device is said to be a "Kindle Fire Killer" with a $200 price tag.

Here’s a quote: “3.5 inch handset size is the ‘sweet spot’ for mobile phone design; big enough to produce detailed, legible graphics, but small enough to fit comfortably in the hand and pocket.” That was Steve Jobs speaking on his belief that consumers were not and should not be interested in a smartphone with a [...]
According to a report from earlier this week, Google’s October 29th press event will bring us more than just the LG Nexus 4, which was all but confirmed via a retailer’s website earlier today, and Nexus 10 tablet, which saw its user guide leak only hours ago. It was also claimed that we would see [...]
8GB Nexus 7 No Longer In The Play Store, Possibly Never To Return If you jumped onto the Play Store today looking to pick up an 8GB version of the tab in time for the holidays, you may have noticed the $200 8GB has been completely sold out, listed as “coming soon.” So what gives? Well, there have been whisperings that Google could have plans to completely phase [...]
Apple has just announced the new iPad Mini, a smaller 7.9-inch iPad priced starting at $329 for the lowest WiFi model. Of course, with a more affordable iPad there is only one question to be answered – will it beat the Android competition? Like all other Apple products there is no doubt this little guy [...]
Google’s October 29th event is expected to introduce us to the new Nexus smartphone from LG, but it could also serve as the launch of a 3G-enabled Nexus 7 with 32GB of internal storage as well as a new 10-inch Nexus tablet from Samsung. We’ve been speculating for weeks that we might see the updated [...]
By now it is no secret that Google wants to release a 32 GB Nexus 7. We have seen more than enough proof, but things start getting interesting when we see the device being sold at some Staples stores. Yes, this is before any announcement, making it a mistake by the Staples representatives. Regardless, both [...]
One of the first things people do immediately following the purchase of their devices is find the necessary tools to protect their new investment. The Nexus 7 is certainly one baby I wouldn’t want going outside without being bundled up, and judging by the hundreds of reviews on dozens of cases spanning across dozens of [...]
Last week we learned that Google will likely phase out the 16GB Nexus 7 in favor of a 32GB model, and despite double the storage most signs point the $250 price point remaining the same for the larger storage option. Now we have a look at the 32GB device listed on Staples’ business portal, where [...]
It’s hard for us not to notice what’s going on in the grand scheme of things when it comes to mobile — after all, we do share space with Windows and iOS sites under the same umbrella Phandroid enjoys. Imagine our surprise, then, when two major announcements were made in the mobile landscape on the [...]
Amazon made a bold move when they entered the tablet game with the Kindle Fire. The device was just $200 to start, and since then it’s gotten even cheaper in the second generation. It quickly shot to the top of Amazon’s best-seller list, and now it looks like Google’s enjoying some similar success with a [...]
Back when Google attempted to shake up the way people purchase smartphones with the launch of the Nexus One, a chief complaint was the company’s lack of a dedicated support team for the handset. With the release of the Nexus 7, it is apparent that Google is keen on getting back into hardware sales in [...]
Need some reassurance for your Nexus devices in case they ever go coocoo? One of the most important things to have on hand is a factory image, and Google has delivered the latest for its latest Nexus devices. The Nexus 7′s 4.1.2 update build JZO54K is available, and an image for that same build is available [...]
A minor update to Jelly Bean has hit the Android Open Source Project today and is also making its way to the Nexus 7. Marked as Android 4.1.2, the new software version is described as minor, mostly consisting of bug fixes and other small tweaks. The most notable change for owners of the N7 is [...]
Rumors of a 32GB Nexus 7 have been heating up over the past few days. First the new version of the slate showed up in a retailer’s inventory system. Then a customer in Japan appeared to have received the larger storage option in lieu of the 16GB model that was originally ordered. Now we have [...]
With more and more evidence suggesting a 32GB Nexus 7 unit is on the way it seems at least one customer may have proof of that straight from Google. A consumer in Japan reportedly ordered a 16GB Nexus 7. There was only one problem (or joyous occasion, depending on who you are): it wasn’t a [...]
Just one day after Carphone Warehouse apparently got caught with a 32GB Nexus 7 in its inventory systems, more evidence of a forthcoming 32GB edition has turned up. This time, Droid-Life was tipped to listings from a reseller’s system that showed the device instructions to call the reseller for availability. This indicates the reseller isn’t [...]
Updated Nexus 7 Driver Binaries Zipped and Ready for Flashing – May Solve Software Issues with the Tab While it’s just about everyone in the Android community’s favorite little tablet, the Nexus 7 doesn’t come without its flaws. We’ve heard of more than a few bad eggs coming out of factory lines with specific hardware issues, but nothing that couldn’t be fixed by tightening up a few screws here and there. Then there [...]
The Nexus 7 tablet is one of the hottest devices around. You simply can’t beat a Nexus device with great specs for $200, but Google made the deal a bit sweeter by including a $25 credit to use in the Google Play Store. This offer is coming to an end tomorrow (September 30), though, so [...]
Twenty-four hours after rumors surfaced of a $99 Nexus tablet launching by the end of the year, manufacturing partner ASUS has gone on the defensive, denying such claims outright. ASUS told Digitimes, the source that originally broke the story, that they have no plans to release a sub-$100 slate in conjunction with Google, calling into question [...]
A new rumor claims that Google and ASUS are currently working on a new version of their Nexus 7, one that will put the original’s $199 price tag to shame. According to a report from Digitimes, Google will launch a $99 version of the Nexus 7 alongside an updated, thinner $199 slate. Both tablets will feature [...]
