The BlackWidow from Razer is good all-around with the loud acoustics typical of the MX Blue switches ... the only drawback is the strikingly bad typography.

The big brother of the gdgt-recommended Black Widow, the Ultimate model adds a USB hub, more macros, headset ports, and backlit keys to one of the best mechanical keyboards out there. If you're looking for a great typing experience — for gaming or work — we think the less expensive Black Widow is a better deal. But if illuminated keys and the rest of the Ultimate's features are worth an extra $40 or so, we certainly wouldn't blame you for picking this one instead.

At $125, the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate is a competitively priced mechanical gaming keyboard in its range. We just wish Razer had done more to set this "Ultimate" edition apart from Razer's more affordable standard BlackWidow.
Read the full review →It’s not a bad keyboard, but in the face of truly excellent competition, I just can’t recommend the BlackWidow.
Read the full review →The BlackWidow Ultimate’s excellent build quality and nicely sized feature set more than make up for its few shortcomings. This one’s a winner.
Read the full review →Overall the BlackWidow Ultimate offers industry leading build quality, a great set of features and an exceptional typing experience.
Read the full review →It’s pricey, and if you can handle the break-in period it’s an excellent board to add to your gaming rig.
Read the full review →I was a little leery about spending so much on a keyboard, but I do not regret the purchase. The feedback from the mechanical keys takes a little getting used to and if you have a house/officemate who likes to work in peace this is not the keyboard for you. The back lit keys are a nice touch....
Read the full review →The cost of this keyboard is a little prohibitive, but the feel of the Razer Black widow is second to none with the mechanical keys providing a feeling of and older keyboard but with modern functionality. If you don’t mind spending $100+ on a keyboard this is the one I would get.
Read the full review →This is one of the best mechanical keyboards out there. All the keyboards features, like the 5 extra macro keys, blue LED backlight, media control keys, and the Razer Synapse program, combine forces to make one hell of a keyboard. Once you go clicketty-clack, you never go back.
Read the full review →The feel of a mechanical keyboard is amazing! The Razer Blackwidow Ultimate is one of the cheapest illuminated mechanical keyboards you can get. The blue switches provide a great albeit loud click, be wary as it may annoy some users or people nearby. This tactile feel of the blue switches click...
Read the full review →I absolutely love this keyboard. It's different and cool. Feels great to type on, and makes a really awesome noise. My roommate is going to have to be tolerant of the loud typing sound though. It's pretty noisy, but a noise that i love. It's very sturdy. In fact, it's heavier than my laptop....
Read the full review →Overall it delivers what you would expect: It is a mechanical keyboard with a mechanical ergonomics and feel. Many argue that mechanical keyboards are Superior for responsiveness and typeset, although at this point I would say that the ergonomics is ultimately subjective. I prefer mechanical...
