I cannot, for the life of me, understand Game of Thrones. I've read the first 100 pages or so of the first book at least twice, as well as listened to some of the audiobook. My biggest problem is that they just say names and things happen to the names; Who are these people?! Early on, it feels like they're so loosely defined as to what they even look like that I just can't put a face to a name. It may say what their position or profession is, but then there's so many names to remember that it sucks me right out.
And so far, every time I've tried to revisit, I just see, in my head, a bunch of Anon's walking around in leather and chainmail. I recall events better than the people their tied to. But I couldn't tell you what their names where with a cheat sheet.
But other then that, yeah, these all sound like pretty solid ideas. Especially the 'children not acting dumb' and 'Villans being Villans'. Totally behind those.

Really great article, with my two favorite points being about the multi-perspective storytelling and having unexpected results from your choices. I love the idea about multi-perspective storytelling for two reasons 1) and you already mentioned this, is because it allows for some seemingly main characters to die while not ending the story and 2) it allows you to see the motivations of many different characters, be them heroes or villains, and will give you more understanding and sympathy for their actions.

"We're not sure Infinite trumps the original BioShock--only time will be able to tell if the complex, brilliant story has the lasting power of Rapture's tale of a crumbling dystopia"
Really? Have you played Bioshock lately? It does not live up to nostalgia. It was great, but the 'main quest' was short (and relatively narrative free) and instead most of it was found through exploration and audio logs. So, in my opinion, it sure as heck trumps Bioshock. Trumps it in spades.

Bioshock had something that Infinite did not, and that was mysterious submariners with a parental heart.

So much was going on in that trailer. FLAMING FLYING HORSE!? A BURNING WHALE!? MAN ON FIRE ON BURNING HORSE!? i guess you can say it has been "reinvented". And no David Hayter .... sad indeed.

Ground Zeroes (GZ) is going to be a digitally distributed ("pre-DLC" if you will), probably cost $30 to $40, with the Phantom Pain (PP) costing $60 and be both digital and physically distributing.
It's a great sales technique. Rather than have people pay for one game for $60, you'll pay $80 for essentially the same game. Those who plan to buy PP, no matter what, will this huge amount for what is essentially one game. Those with their doubts will buy GZ and make up their mind, but by then Konami will have your $20 to $30.
Wave of the future for game sales and distribution. Kind of sucks that one game is being cut up into two to make more money. That Kojimi, what an "artist."

I'm scared with the direction this series is taking. Kojima should have ended this years ago... Metal Gear is turning into a joke. And I'm not saying this because of MG Rising, or the batshit craziness of the Phantom Pain trailer.

Not too much to catch my attention. Definitely excited for Tales of Xilia, Lightning Returns, and most of all, Lords of Shadow 2 (which I was glad to see was so high on the list!)
