What is a firewall?
A firewall is either physical hardware or can be software based and ensures the security of any servers that are protected behind it. The firewall screens traffic going in and coming out of the server/s, it prevents suspicious data, such as viruses and worms. It also attempts to prevent data such as your credit card numbers and passwords from being stolen from your websites, databases and applications running inside your server/s.
Hackers
There are many hackers on the Internet trying to gain access to your data, tricking users to enter their personal information, defacing websites and steeling information. Hackers setup probes to monitor machines on the internet. Installing a firewall makes it harder for hackers and other computers to know if your server/s has a “hole” that can be broken into.
