Education
I grew up in Jamestown, NY where I graduated from Southwestern High School in 2004. Since attending Space Camp in sixth grade, and a couple more times after that, I I have been interested in space exploration. This lead me to pursue a degree in Engineering Physics, with an aerospace concentration, at Case Western Reserve University.
Experience
At Case Western I worked for the Case Advanced Power Institute where I assisted in Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell research. I used Nuclear Magnetic Resonance techniques to analyze the movement of protons through a nafion membrane.
In the fall of 2006, I had an incredible experience with Engineering Ministries International, an organization that provides free design work for third world countries. I traveled to Nigeria with a team of architects and engineers to design an HIV/AIDs hospital, which is already being built to meet the community’s needs.
Extra-Curricular Activities
I have been involved with the Case chapter of Engineers Without Borders. We designed and implemented a battery powered system to provide power for a health clinic in the Dominican Republic. I am a part of Campus Crusade for Christ, where we do community service and hold events for the campus. I have also rowed with the Case Crew team.
In my spare time, I like to play the guitar and I am currently teaching myself piano. I like to play soccer, rock climb, adventure outdoors, and explore the world with all its cultures.
