Surviving Cape Town in Summer - our top 10 tips:
1. Experience Cape Town by bicycle
With so much to do packed into a small space, it's a great idea to hire a bicycle for your Cape Town holiday. Check out Up Cycles in Sea Point! http://www.sa-venues.com/things-to-do/westerncape/up-cycles/ Here's our incredible guide to exploring Cape Town by bicycle: http://blog.sa-venues.com/activities/cycle-cape-town/
2. Sun Screen
Make it a habit to smear on Factor 50 on your face every day, especially at the back of your neck where you could potentially burn and get sun stroke.
3. Take public transport, ride a scooter or walk to the beach
Seriously, it's not worth trying to find parking in Clifton in December (http://www.sa-venues.com/attractionswc/clifton.php). It's a great idea to choose accommodation that is within walking distance to the beach if that's what you're wanting to spend your time doing.
4. Stay in the City Bowl if you love coffee shops and restaurants
If you stay in the City Bowl you can walk to just about every one of Cape Town's best or most quirky coffee shops and restaurants (http://www.sa-venues.com/restauran…/westerncape/…/city-bowl/). Dim sum, sushi, vegan, health, burger bars...the choice is endless.
5. Avoid Kloof Nek during peak hours
You don't want to burn your clutch out on Kloof Nek during silly season by waiting on one of the steepest roads in Cape Town to get to Camps and Clifton! Leave the city bowl for the beach by 8am. http://www.sa-venues.com/attractionswc/camps-bay.php
6. Take the train to Simonstown and back
This has got to be one of the most beautiful train rides in the world! Leave your car in the southern suburbs or Muizenberg to avoid the traffic and hop on and off while exploring Kalk Bay and Simonstown. http://www.sa-venues.com/attractionswc/kalk-bay.php
7. Head to the Winelands
If you can't take another day in the sun, then why not head out to one of the most beautiful wine routes on earth - from Stellendbosch to Franschhoek. http://www.sa-venues.com/west_cape_winelands.htm
8. Refer to SA-Venues on your mobile device
We have all the information you need to plan your most memorable Cape Town trip, from first-hand blogger accounts, to listings for just about every restaurant you'd want to visit in every neighbourhood. http://www.sa-venues.com/
9. Markets
If you're cramped for time and don't know what to do with the whole family, we find that markets are the best way to tick so many boxes. From gourmet food, to gifts and entertainment, markets like the Bay Harbour Market in Hout Bay are a must-visit: http://www.sa-venues.com/…/browse-around-the-bay-harbour-m…/
10. Be Sun Safe
Don't bake in the sun between 12 - 2pm! Enjoy the most beautiful beaches in the world safely so that you don't need to spend 4 days indoors with sunburn. Lather on your sunscreen, wear hats and enjoy the beach in the mornings and late afternoons. http://www.sa-venues.com/attractionswc/beaches.htm
