Course Changes, Withdrawals, Refunds
Course changes
The student is solely responsible for initiating course changes. If a course change results in an increase in fees, the surplus is due immediately. If a course change results in a decrease in fees, the credit is applied to any outstanding charges and the balance, if any, is refunded to the student upon the student’s request.
Withdrawals
The student is solely responsible for withdrawing from the University or from courses and must do so through the WebAdvisor.
In the case of a withdrawal, the amount refunded is calculated according to the refund schedule, using the effective date reported on the WebAdvisor (not the date the student stops attending classes). If fees are not paid and a student withdraws within the time permitted, as outlined in the refund schedule, the student is still liable for fees applicable at the date of withdrawal.
Full-Time students who completely withdraw between September 6 and September 15, will be charged a withdrawal fee of $303.20. Part-Time students will be charged $30.32 per 3 credits plus incidental, digital material and auditor fees.
Full-time/part-time students dropping courses and who remain enrolled through April 30 will be refunded fees according to the refund schedule. Refunds will not be processed until after the last date to register in winter courses in January.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OSAP APPLICANTS
You must maintain your registration and successfully complete a minimum of 9 credits per term in order to maintain your OSAP eligibility. If at any time, for any reason your course load is reduced, you may be overpaid, and you may be placed on OSAP probationary status or restricted from further OSAP assistance. You could also lose your OSOG, i.e. loan forgiveness, not only for the current session, but for the previous fall/winter session as well.
If you incur an over award, you may be restricted from OSAP, and you will be required to repay the loan overpayment in full in order to apply to OSAP in subsequent terms.
Refunds
At registration, a total of fees is calculated and charged to the student's account. Refunds are based on total fees charged, not on amount paid. A refund is prepared upon the student's request. Approved refunds can take 4-6 weeks to be processed.
Laurentian University has implemented an electronic payment program whereby all refunds will be deposited directly in your bank account.
To set-up your banking information, please go to your WebAdvisor and complete the banking information section. We will be unable to process any refunds to which you are entitled until your banking information has been provided.
