What is the meaning of the Paralympic symbol ?
The Paralympic symbol consists of three ‘‘agitos’’ or asymmetrical crescents. ‘‘Agitos’’ means ‘‘I move’’ in latin to represent the Paralympic motto ‘‘Spirit in Motion’’. The colours of each agito, red, blue and green, are the three colours that are most widely represented in national flags around the world.

The Mascot
Bandabi the Asiatic black bear is the mascot for the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games. Bandabi’s name comes from ‘‘bandal’’ meaning half-moon and ‘‘bi’’ finding its meaning in the celebration of the Games. The Asiatic black bear appears in South Korean culture and mythology and is also the animal emblem of Gangwon province. Also known as Korean Moon bears because of the white crescent on their chest, these bears are symbols of strong will and courage.

Torch Relay and Paralympic flame
The Paralympic flame begins to shine bright on March 2nd. Its journey will cover eight cities across South Korea. A total of 800 torchbearers will take part in the Torch Relay. The PyeongChang 2018 torch will take its position on March 9th in the cauldron of the Olympic plaza for the duration of the Games. Closing ceremonies are scheduled for March 18th, 2018.
