For security purposes, anyone wishing to visit Canada Paralympic House during the PyeongChang Paralympic Games will need to register at the link below.  Each name will have to be registered separately so they can be confirmed.

Registering at this link will also ensure that you are on the Canadian Paralympic Committee's Family and Friends Update list.  We will send you any new information as it becomes available.

PyeongChang 2018 Tickets

Opening and Closing Ceremony as well as sporting event tickets for the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games are available exclusively through the IPC’s Global Authorized Ticket Reseller CoSport. Please remember that the athlete will receive 2 free tickets to each of their competitions for Families and Friends.  We will work with CoSport to have these tickets bunched together.

Canada Paralympic House

CPH

The CPC has an agreement in principle for the location of Canada Paralympic House for the PyeongChang Games!  We are working to secure a space at the AM Hotel to become the Home Away From Home for Canadians in South Korea.

CPH is conveniently located less than a 5 minute walk from both the Opening and Closing Ceremony Stadium and Medals Plaza.

Registration of Canadians Abroad

The CPC recommends that all people travelling to South Korea for the Games should register with the Government of Canada’s  “Registration of Canadians Abroad”.

The ROCA service enables government officials to contact you to provide important information in preparation for an emergency (such as a natural disaster or civil unrest), instructions during emergencies, important changes or updates to the Travel Advice and Advisories for the country for which you registered, and more.

We will be using WhatsApp as a messaging system while in South Korea. WhatsApp is a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS. WhatsApp is available for iPhone, Android, Windows Phone and Mac/Windows. Because WhatsApp Messenger uses the same internet data plan (or wifi) that you use for email and web browsing, there is no additional cost to message and stay in touch.

 

Currency and Power

Currency

The won is the currency of South Korea: ₩or KRW

•The basic exchange rule to approximate CAD value is to remove the last three zeros –10,000 ₩= $11.63 CAD (as of February 12)

•Visa is the only credit card accepted at official Paralympic venues – other credit cards are except at most non-offical venues

•South Korea is a no-tip culture

Power

South Korea is on the 220V standard at 60Hz and uses two round pins with no ground –the same shape (but not necessarily voltage) used in many European, South American and Asian countries
