The leaf is repeatedly wrapped, rolled & oxidised until approx. 30% oxidation has been achieved. The range of flavours & aromas achieved depends on the process. Some oolongs are also baked to generate fruity, toasty flavours.

To manufacture the greener oolongs, the leaf is withered and then wrapped inside a large cloth and rolled in a special machine. The bag is then opened and the leaf is spread out briefly to oxidise lightly.

Just like black & green , oolong is made from the leaves of Camellia sinensis plants. To manufacture darker leafed oolongs, the freshly plucked leaf is withered, then shaken or 'rattled' in bamboo baskets or in a bamboo tumbling machine to lightly bruise parts of the leaf.

like black tea, green tea is made from Camellia sinensis. For green tea, leaves are picked, withered for a short time & then oxidation is stopped by applying dry heat (pan-fried)or steam to fix the green colour & flavour.
