The trailblazing Fever rookie was given TIME's highest athlete honor on Tuesday morning as she was named the Athlete of the Year.

Caitlin Clark – who helped draw crowds to arenas around the country and drive up viewership numbers in her final year of college and then in her rookie year in the WNBA – has been named Time’s Athlete of the Year.

After breaking the NCAA career scoring record and leading Iowa to the title game, Caitlin Clark helped lift the WNBA to new heights in popularity.
