Meet Iris, a Software Engineer at Google Australia. Since starting as an intern, she’s grown her career in the past decade by exploring different engineering teams — moving from Chrome and Maps to Photos. Like many Googlers, Iris has expanded her skill set over the years through internal mobility. Today, she’s part of the Video Consumption team, focusing on the User Interface (UI) — the actual visual layouts and buttons you see on your screen — to elevate videos across the Google Photos app and help users connect with their most engaging memories. That real-world impact is what keeps her inspired, she says — “knowing that what we build is genuinely useful to people." Her advice for taking on massive technical challenges at scale with her team: Remember you don’t need all the answers on day one. "We might not know the answers straightaway," she explains, "but we figure them out together." Want to solve complex product puzzles with a supportive team? Introducing Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash, our newest multimodal model for video generation and editing. It delivers a new suite of creative capabilities and controls for developers 🎥 With this update, you can:  🎬 Extend your scenes while keeping character identity, lighting, and narrative context locked. 🎯 Specify starting and ending frames of a shot, and Omni generates the continuous motion in between. Ideal for complex camera sweeps, zoom transitions, and looping clips. 📽️ Add up to 3 seconds of reference video to map movement, visual context, and character consistency across your scene. ⚡ Generate lightweight video previews in 360p before upscaling your final selects, so you can test out ideas without burning through your budget. ✨ Upscale your favorite clips in high-resolution 1080p or 4K outputs, ready for professional production. (Watch to see this in action below!) Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash is rolling out now in Google AI Studio, Google Flow, and the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. Scene extension is available to all Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers globally in the Gemini app. Learn more about Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash → https://goo.gle/4ceBbLT

"Our new AI models are 300 times more efficient than those from just two years ago. Not 300 percent—300 times. And while that’s an incredible advance, what matters even more are the expanding ways they are benefiting people." — Kent Walker at the Global Forum on Intellectual Property in Singapore. Today we're introducing Gemini 3.5 Transcribe, our most precise speech-to-text model yet, built for intelligent voice interactions 🗣️✨ 3.5 Transcribe directly converts raw audio into accurate, formatted text while removing filler words, handling self-corrections, and capturing your intent so you can get things done using just your voice. Here’s what's new: 📝 Smart transcription: Automatically removes filler words like "ums" and "ahs," formats your text, and seamlessly handles self-corrections. 🌍 Global language support: Detects and transcribes 85+ languages while handling regional accents and diverse dialects. 👥 Multi-speaker identification:  Distinguishes up to three speakers with timestamps in recorded audio (support for 3+ speakers is experimental). 🪄 Function calling: In the Gemini app on macOS, it can delegate complex tasks to other Gemini models via function calls to do things like generate images, look up information, analyze files and more. Gemini 3.5 Transcribe is rolling out to consumer surfaces like Rambler on Android and the Gemini app on macOS. Developers can start building today in Google AI Studio and Google Antigravity. If you loved building blocks as a kid, coding can be a great digital transition. That’s exactly what drove Jonathan to shift from mechanical engineering to computer science. "I loved building with physical things," he explains, "but I realized that in some ways computer science allows me to do even more than that — building code to be able to do whatever I want." Now, Jonathan works as an intern at Google DeepMind under the AI Studio and Kaggle teams, focusing on benchmarks and evaluations for Gemini. He works on the testing frameworks that give researchers the data they need for "hillclimbing" — the technical term for making continuous, incremental improvements to the AI model. His biggest tip for making the most of an internship? Don't let job titles intimidate you. "Everyone is so nice and willing to help out," he says. "It's so cool being able to direct message senior directors… and having them take the time out of their busy day to respond." Want to build the future of AI with us? Visual learners, this one’s for you. By opening a new chat and prompting Gemini with “show me…,” you can generate custom, functional 3D simulations — directly within your chat — to better understand any complex topic on your mind. So, instead of just reading about a concept, you can manually input data, adjust variables, and manipulate sliders to run hands-on, real-time simulations.  (For the best results, try using Gemini’s Flash model.) Here’s how ↓
