Pocket PC 2000 is the first release for Windows Mobile. It was supported for the HTC Vouge, LG, and Vodafone and was released on April 19, 2000, it runs on Windows CE 3.0 kernel. Pocket PC 2002 is the successor for the operating system. The codename is ''Rapier''.
Development history
[change | change source]In January 1999, Microsoft registered the codename ''Rapier'', the kernel type is Windows CE 3.0. They said it was similar from Windows 95 and Windows 98, in February 1999, Microsoft started the history from the beta version in the codename ''Rapier'', in March 11, 1999, Pocket PC 2000 build 200 was leaked on the Internet officially, the news said that Pocket PC 2000 build 301 was released on April 14, 1999, later leaked on January 14, 2020 in BetaArchive. In May 15, 1999, Pocket PC 2000 build 302 was released as a new version.
In January 13, 2000, Microsoft released the RTM of Pocket PC 2000, after it was released, Microsoft launched the Vodafone Mobile on Pocket PC 2000. In March 2000, Pocket PC 2000 Pre-RTM was leaked on February 14, 2019 on BetaWiki. Microsoft released Pocket PC 2000 on April 19, 2000.
Pocket PC 2000 launched everything in Windows CE 3.0.
Device and hardware
[change | change source]Pocket PC 2000 launched for 11 devices, such as the LG L674, and more. Pocket PC 2000 launched with 245MB and 512MB, 100MB was launched for the Vodafone L67 in Windows CE 3.0. Features such as the news in Pocket PC 2000 were introducedon January 2004. On the LG L89, the old PDA uses the sound ringtones in Pocket PC 2000.
In May 2001, Microsoft launched the 9 devices for Vodafone running Pocket PC 2000, including the Vodafone L87, L89 and L98. In August 15, 2001, the Vodafone L87 started running Windows CE 3.0 officially.
In 1999, Microsoft confirmed the Vodafone L67 would be for sale beginning on in May 1999, after the codename was ''Rapier''. The launch for the beta version of Pocket PC 2000 started in January 2000, the Vodafone L67 had support for Pocket PC 2000.
