    Guillermo Jalil - PHILATINO Internet/Mail Sale - July 8, 2026
ARGENTINA: Rivadavias, special July auction: Selection of very fine stamps and covers from Argentina´s most widely collected classic issue, featuring many rarities, some outstanding covers, varieties, interesting cancellations, and more.

IMPORTANT: Almost all this material comes from a collection that I recently acquired from a client who specialized in this classic issue and selected only the very best examples. All the lots are being offered with the same starting prices as when they were originally auctioned 10 to 20 years ago. Those starting prices were already low at the time, and in addition many of these lots attracted strong bidding and ultimately realized prices well above their starting bids (in some cases two to three times higher!). Now all this material is being offered again at those same low starting prices from years ago and with no reserve!

Oldlouis Auctions is honored to present The M. Kramarenko “Russika” Collection of Imperial Russia, one of the most comprehensive and meticulously assembled collections of Imperial Russian philately and postal history ever formed. Built over many years of dedicated research and collecting, the collection encompasses an extraordinary range of rare stamps, proofs, varieties, printing errors, and important postal history items.

Of particular significance is the collection's exceptional holding of Imperial Russian postal stationery, regarded as one of the most extensive and detailed specialized collections in existence. Many items are unique or of the utmost rarity, representing decades of careful study and acquisition.

The importance of this collection extends beyond the material itself. It served as the foundation for the “Russika” catalogue authored by Mikhail Kramarenko, one of the principal reference works in this specialized field of Russian philately. Its appearance at auction offers collectors and researchers a rare opportunity to acquire material of outstanding rarity, provenance, and scholarly importance.

Pierre Wertheimer has been a collector and dealer for over 40 years. He is known for his expertise in Proofs. We have a PDF of a brochure on Modern Proofs of the French Area that he published back in 1984. For "An Introduction to Modern Proofs of the French Area" refer to this helpful PDF file found (here)

He has continued his philatelic activities as a collector and as part-time and full-time dealer and the co-administrator of the Facebook group: Philatélie les spécialistes des épreuves. He has written articles on Proofs in major philatelic publications and in thematic and French Colonies Facebook groups including one in five parts on UPU specimen for the French Area.

This first sale features including many thematic rarities including Proofs and unique original designs of the French Area as well unusual and hard-to-find thematic exhibit items such as pre-philatelic covers and illustrated telegrams plus French classics and 20th century specialties, as well as wholesale lots for dealers. Many items are rare or even one of a kind and therefore present a great opportunity to add rarely offered material to a country or topical collection or exhibit. This is a Live Auction using StampAuctionNetwork's Auto Hammer. You will notice no difference from regular Live bidding, except there is no auctioneer selling and waiting on each lot. Each lot will be open for 15 seconds and then be sold. Each new bid will reset the timer for another 15 seconds.

This first sale has 119 lots. Live Bidding will start at 11:00 am EST.

You can also enter your bids before the auction as absentee bids, or use "Unattended Live Bidding", to have StampAuctionNetwork execute them for you when the lot comes up for sale. This allows you to enter your maximum bid to be executed for you live (as in mail auctions or Vente sur Offres in France) without revealing your top bid. Both estimates and minimum bid (reserve) are available. LIVE Internet Bidding at StampAuctionNetwork®.
