GoNintendo podcast: live-stream reminder

December 22nd, 2007

A lot of you guys have been emailing me about our podcast live-stream. You’ve been asking if I could make an announcement letting everyone know when the show will start. You asked for it, so you’re getting it! Our podcast live-stream will start up sometime between 3 and 4 PM EST.

Keep in mind that the live-stream is just for fun, so it may not have the best audio. The good news is that we are working to fix that!

GameStop raincheck offer extended

December 22nd, 2007

Here’s something that doesn’t surprise me. GameStop is offering Wii rainchecks for those that couldn’t get a system before Christmas. Here’s the problem them…it wasn’t really advertised. The program was up and running, one day only, just a week after Reggie talked about it. Most people have given up on a Wii for Christmas, so they aren’t heading out to stores to try and buy one. Since they aren’t shopping around, they have no idea that the raincheck situation is going on.

Reader Mot has let me know that GameStop has now extended the deal to the end of today. He should know, seeing that he’s a GameStop employee. If all do not sell out today, they may even extend it until tomorrow. If you thought you were out of luck for a raincheck, you still have a chance!

Keiji Inafune says Mega Man is not in Brawl

December 22nd, 2007

During a question/answer session in the latest Bionic Commando podcast, Keiji Inafune lets us know that Mega Man isn’t in Brawl. His answer is pretty fun, and includes a little teasing throughout.

Well, I really do love Super Smash Brothers. It’s a great series…but, Nintendo hasn’t asked me yet if they can use Mega Man in their game. I’m still waiting…we have a little bit of time left, it’s not coming out for another few months. They might get around to asking us if we’d like to put Mega Man in Super Smash Brothers. Maybe if somebody from Nintendo is listening to this podcast, they’ll give me a call.

So there you have it…Inafune says no Mega Man in Brawl. I guess we’ll have to keep our fingers crossed for the next Smash Bros. game. Huge thanks to Tinker for the heads up.

Euro/Aussie VC roundup

December 22nd, 2007

B-B-B-B-B-Blades of Steel! A ton of gamers have extremely fond memories of this title. It was like Nintendo’s own Ice Hockey, but with the dial turned to 11. My cousin used to play out real seasons, and keep track of his wins and losses. At the end of the season he would print out his win/loss record, and hang it above the TV (complete with clipart). Now if that isn’t hardcore, I don’t know what is.

Adam Sessler talks about the new X-Play

December 22nd, 2007

G4TV’s X-Play is getting a major revamp. The show is going to stock being an all-reviews affair, and start to turn towards gaming news and interviews as well. Adam Sessler has been interview about the format change, as well as a number of other topics. Below he talks about G4TV’s move away from gaming shows.

“I think [the new X-Play format] will help demonstrate that gaming has been at the core of the network, despite the acquisition of other programming that might not be as directly game-related. … I think [covering] games 24/7 would always be a little bit tough. You see other kind of genre-focused networks out there, they have to start rehashing and rehashing and rehashing. I’d just as soon see a network with a lot of fresh content that’s not always consistent on one topic rather than the same three hours repeated ad nauseum.
