 | | | | | Topic of the Week: Questing Print News | Category: Topic of the week
When Camelot first began, questing took a lot of time and finding NPCs that held quests was pretty much a guessing game. You would click on numerous NPCs hoping one would give you a quest, and good luck remembering which NPC gave you that quest from which city. Then getting the objective took some skill in riddle solving, map reading and sometimes just dumb luck. We have dots on our maps now and quest indicators above the NPC's heads to take some of the guesswork out of it.
It seems, though that more and more of the newer games are making the questing process almost too easy with specific areas on the map highlighted where you find your objective. The quest hand holding while at first seems interesting and cool - a nice refresher from spending time trying to figure out where exactly the second tree on top of the fourth hill past the city is - does it take the mystery and adventure out of quests? Does the new style of questing leave people with less knowledge of the lands around them because they're not exploring much? Or is it nice to have something leading you to the next step so you can get the questing chore over with?
Are quest rewards worth the time and effort the quest makes you go through to complete it? Should you be able to level completely off of quests?
What kind of quests do you like? Short, sweet and to the point? Epic quests that take you through various zones and experiences? Something in between?
Or would you rather skip quests altogether? If you don't like questing, why not? What is it about them that makes you cringe and run the other way?

Mythic brings us news about upgrading the SI Breastplates:
"After intense study, scholars in all three realms have managed to copy the magical alterations that were made to the Breastplates that drop out of the Shrouded Isles dungeons. Gain S'ondin in Caer Gothwaite, Navala in the Grove of Domnann, and Kynval in the city of Aegirhamn are now able to upgrade the original versions of these Breastplates into the new versions that have been discovered recently.
