US average gasoline price drops below $3 a gallon for the first time since 2021

Average U.S. gasoline prices fell below $3 a gallon for the first time in over three years on Monday, extending a run of bargains at the pump for consumers who have faced soaring inflation in recent years. Fuel prices have been declining steadily since the end of the peak summer driving season, helping boost consumer spending even as progress on broader inflation showed signs of stalling in October, with prices of other goods and services climbing. "One would need to count over 1,300 days since we’ve seen the national average this low, with the affordability of gasoline at its lowest non-COVID level since 2015,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

Italy to test Starlink in January in bid to boost high-speed internet, sources say

Italy plans to begin tests as early as January to see if the satellite-based connectivity offered by Elon Musk's Starlink is a viable solution to boosting the rollout of high-speed internet in the country, two sources close to the matter said. Officials in Giorgia Meloni's right wing government are increasingly worried about missing broadband network targets set under the European Union-funded Recovery Plan. The tests are part of a pilot project, with the results expected as early as March, and will be open to several companies including Starlink, the people said.

Riverside raises $30 million Series C to expand its podcast and video recording platform

Podcast recording platform Riverside said Monday that it has raised $30 million in Series C funding led by Zeev Ventures, with participation from Seven Seven Six, and angel investor Sam Lessin. The startup also counts Casey Neistat, Marques Brownlee, Guy Raz, Elad Gil and Alexander Klöpping as angel investors. Riverside's founder Nadav Keyson told TechCrunch that the company's valuation went up with the Series C raise but didn't specify the exact number.
