As per Ofcom's own prior attestations - which are documented in Preston J. Byrne's article "Thoughts on the £1,000,000 SaSu Fine" (prestonbyrne.com/2026/05/12/tho…) - they did, in fact, need to use a VPN to bypass SaSu's geoblocking.

The forum failed to comply with its duties to tackle content that intentionally encourages or assists suicide - which is a criminal offence. It has been cited in multiple coroners’ reports regarding the deaths of UK citizens. It now has two weeks to come into compliance.

Tackling child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and grooming online. We're investigating Telegram after evidence suggests CSAM being shared on the platform. We’re also investigating two teen chat sites over concerns predators are using them to groom children.

Ofcom has sent multiple fines to 4chan, but 4chan has not paid any of them. Their lawyer claims they only operate in the US and their conduct is expressly protected by the First Amendment.
