Automation Workflow

How TinyTask Pro Works

TinyTask Pro follows a simple automation process. Record your actions once, configure playback settings, and let the software handle repetitive tasks automatically.

1

🖱️ Record Actions

Click the Record button and perform the actions you want to automate. TinyTask Pro captures mouse movements, clicks, keyboard input, and workflow sequences. See exactly what gets captured in our guide to recording mouse and keyboard actions.

2

⏹️ Stop Recording

Once your workflow is complete, click Stop Recording. TinyTask Pro automatically saves every action into a reusable automation sequence.

3

▶️ Play Macro

Click Play to execute the recorded workflow. TinyTask Pro repeats every action exactly as it was originally captured.

4

♾️ Configure Loops

Choose how many times the macro should run. Execute it once, multiple times, or enable Infinite Loop mode for continuous automation — see our full guide to loop automation in TinyTask.

5

💾 Save Macro

Store automation workflows as JSON files so they can be reused anytime without creating them again. If a saved file won’t open later, see fixing a TinyTask macro that won’t open.

6

📂 Load & Reuse

Load previously saved macros instantly and launch automation workflows without recording them again.

Why This Workflow Matters

Instead of repeating the same actions manually every day, TinyTask Pro lets you create an automation once and reuse it indefinitely. This helps save time, reduce repetitive work, improve consistency, and increase overall productivity.

Advanced Features

Powerful Automation Controls

TinyTask Pro includes advanced playback controls that allow you to run workflows exactly the way you need. Configure repetitions, adjust speed, save macros, and build reusable automation libraries.

  • Custom repetition counts
♾️

Infinite Loop Mode

Enable continuous automation without specifying a loop count. The workflow continues running until manually stopped.

  • Continuous clicking
  • Monitoring workflows
  • Automated testing
  • Long-running tasks

Playback Speed Control

Adjust playback speed to balance automation performance and accuracy based on your workflow requirements. See the full guide to TinyTask playback speed settings.

  • 0.5x – Maximum precision
  • 1x – Normal speed

TinyTask Pro 3.1 Help

How to Stop TinyTask, End a Loop and Use the Controls

Quick answer: In TinyTask Pro 3.1 (see the full version history), press F9 to stop recording, cancel the three-second playback countdown, or end a running macro—even when Infinite Loop is enabled. Press F8 to record and F10 to play. The desktop app does not currently have a pause-and-resume command.

TinyTask controls at a glance

The three main shortcuts are global, so they work while TinyTask Pro is minimized or while you are using another application. For the complete list — including how to change them — see TinyTask hotkeys and keyboard shortcuts.

ShortcutControlWhat it does in TinyTask Pro 3.1
F8RecordStarts recording mouse and keyboard actions.
F9StopStops recording or playback and cancels a pending playback countdown.
F10PlayStarts the macro after a three-second countdown.

You can also click the Record, Stop and Play buttons in the app. For a closer look at what the recorder captures, see the guide to recording mouse and keyboard actions.

How to stop a TinyTask loop

  1. Press F9 once, even if another program is active.
  2. Wait for the status bar to show that playback has stopped.
  3. Turn off Infinite or enter a smaller loop count before playing again.

F9 stops the current run immediately; you do not need to wait for the loop to finish. Learn how repetition settings work in the TinyTask loop automation guide. If a macro won’t stop even after pressing F9, see how to stop a TinyTask runaway loop.

How to pause TinyTask

TinyTask Pro 3.1 does not pause a desktop macro halfway through and later resume from the same action. Press F9 to stop it. When you press F10 later, playback begins again from the first enabled step after the countdown.

For a practical pause point, split a long workflow into smaller saved macros. You can also disable completed steps in the macro editor before replaying. If you are new to that workflow, start with the first-macro tutorial.

What if F9 does not stop TinyTask?

  • Try Fn + F9 on a laptop. Some keyboards use the function row for brightness or media controls unless you hold Fn or enable Function Lock.
  • Use the Stop button. Bring TinyTask Pro to the front and click Stop if the shortcut is being intercepted by another utility.
  • Check the version. F9 is the stop shortcut for TinyTask Pro 3.1. Older instructions that mention Esc do not describe the v3.1 controls.
  • Use Task Manager only as a last resort. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc, select TinyTask Pro and choose End task. Save important macro changes before testing long loops.
  • Still stuck? See more fixes for a macro that stops playback unexpectedly or a macro that runs slowly, or browse the full TinyTask troubleshooting guide.

Avoid an accidental endless loop

  • Test a new macro once before enabling Infinite Loop.
  • Use a finite loop count whenever you know how many repetitions are needed.
  • Start at 1× speed—or 0.5× for slow websites and applications—before increasing playback speed.
  • Keep the F9 shortcut in mind before starting an unattended workflow.
  • Save the macro with a clear name so you can return to a tested version.
